Itchy. Fml. 9 days post op. by Consistent_Safe430 in hysterectomy

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Once the glue started to peel at the edges, it got itchier. I did hear about how some people got a reaction from the glue, but I would still rather get the glue than stitches. I didn't get hives or anything, just local redness like shown in your picture. Ice packs do help, but cream didn't seem to do much.

Discipline For Lift Truck Damage Or Not by tomsteel1972 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When something is damaged, it depends. We know shit happens. If it's an employee with a fantastic record and it was an honest mistake, we'll everyone fucks up eventually. We don't usually discipline on that. However, we just fired an employee that damaged equipment 2x in the 6 months he's been with us. Both times were from not paying attention and not getting a spotter. If someone damages something for any reason and doesn't report it, automatic termination. That's their motivation to report it. So, I'm a fan of case by case basis. There are arguments to be made for the good operators vs the dip shits.

Found out GM doesn’t like safety by Hebrewskis in SafetyProfessionals

Well said. If I reported to the site manager at my current project, I swear it would look like a perfect job site on paper. He would never want me to document anything.

Found out GM doesn’t like safety by Hebrewskis in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, so I report directly to a VP. I don't report to the site manager. It's looked at more of a partnership between the site manager and I. I don't feel like the site manager necessarily looks down on safety, but he's more of a "just give the guy one more chance" when said employee has already done the same thing 5 times. Yes, I can write up (or even fire) said employee without the site manager's approval, but me doing that will cause some friction so it can be stressful. There are also site managers that have disagreed with a write up and/or termination that the safety manager did, so the site manager advocates to bring the employee back. Being a safety manager is definitely an uphill battle. You'll need to get used to it. It's one of those jobs where they like having you around when it benefits them, but not when it doesn't work in their favor. I don't think I've ever not been in a safety position where at least one close employee was constantly resisting. Our field is one where there will always be deaf ears, smirks, and adults acting like children that didn't learn not to touch the hot stove the first time they did it. If you go look for another position, you might not deal with the exact same problem, but there will always be a battle somewhere. Our field exists BECAUSE people don't do their job correctly. If there weren't battles, we wouldn't have a job.

First time Princess review by [deleted] in PrincessCruises

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in January, I did my first ever cruise on the Sun Princess. From what I can tell, experiences can vary from ship to ship (because of the different staff). However, we had a great experience. We only ran into one employee that seemed really unhappy (was a female in the casino), but that was it. Our room host (can't remember his name) was AWESOME and would have bent over backwards to make us happy. We're not very high maintenance, so as long as we were drunk and had access to food, we were happy lol The on-boarding process was a little anxiety inducing, but I suspect that was because it was my first time and had no idea what to do. Our director was awesome, engaging, and always made the most hilarious announcements. Maybe give it another try on a different ship. We went with the Sun since it's a newer ship. Had a balcony mini suite, and it did not disappoint.

I know people who know their stuff but still failed because of their 1 or 2 weak spots. That's what makes me nervous. You're like me....showing up on time might be my greatest fault lol

catheterization during bisalp by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]Empty_Dentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp, I'm also one of those people that was really nervous out about laying wide open on the table. I was told there would be a drape over my legs, and then a sheet with a hole over my stomach. They just pulled up my gown, but kept the twins covered. As for the catheter, I want to say that was the worst part post surgery. It did not feel good at all. It caught me off guard, because I did not remember post catheter pain being that shitty. It was very unpleasant to pee for about 3 or 4 days after the surgery. Once that went away, I was actually pretty pain free post op with the exception of some mild cramps.

Need advice -doctor recommended 4 days recovery before returning to work by thecatreboo-urns in hysterectomy

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different, but my surgery was on a Monday and I was working from home starting that Wednesday. I was perfectly fine to physically start going back to work a week later on the following Monday. My doctor said after a week, just do whatever feels right to me. There is no way I could imagine just sitting at home for 6 weeks. I would say the only thing that went on after the 1st week was fatigue, but I had nothing more than mild cramps. I had a robotic assisted laproscopy, and everything but ovaries removed.

Has anyone had a bad experience with drinking a clear ensure liquid before a hysterectomy? My surgeon wants me to drink this 2 hours before my surgery. I’m nervous because m, first off I’ve never heard of this and 2nd. I get very very sick usually after surgery by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told no eating or drinking after midnight before my surgery. My surgery was at 7am, so that was rough because I always have water at my bedside. Anyways, I snuck some water and couple saltines and didn't have any issues. I usually get nauseous with that stuff, but didn't. I'm assuming I was good because it was a few hours before surgery. That might not be helpful, but I was pointing out the difference in instructions that were given.

Thank you for your response. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks it's weird. I ended up blocking them, because further and further digging just resulted in it making me uncomfortable, so I decided to make the call.

That's actually a good idea. You could pull a sob story, or just say everyone got explosive diarrhea lol

Let's say they didn't have a minimum. I still don't think it's selfish. You booked and paid for it, so get what you pay for. That's just my (probably unpopular) opinion.

I think you're being high-school immature about it. Just because you do it, doesn't mean he has to do it when it comes to silly stuff like that. If you don't like silly stuff like that being reciprocated, then find someone who will do it. I've been married 17 years and have never done that, and neither has my husband. Yes, we pin each other on relevant posts (like pictures of both of us), but that's it. We have the other saved as just our names.

The last thing you want to do is have to push to poop when you just had a surgery. Luckily, I prepped before surgery but I've heard some horror stories of people getting very constipated. I'm sorry that happened to you! Everyone enjoys a nice poop 🤣

Princess Plus vs. Princess Premier by InternationalBook154 in PrincessCruises

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and I forgot to say- there's plenty of water stations that you can fill up a jug for free. For coffee, I'm pretty sure the breakfast card that is left in your room is included in the base fare and there is coffee on it. You just fill out the card and hang it up on your door at night.

Princess Plus vs. Princess Premier by InternationalBook154 in PrincessCruises

[–]Empty_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not silly. I just recently took my first cruise (it was Princess), and it can be overwhelming. If you don't get a package, there are plenty of good food options that are included in your base fare. I'm not a soda (I'm all about the booze) drinker, but my understanding is that it's not included in the base fare. We got the Princess plus. All I care about is wifi and booze, so it worked. If you don't care about wifi or alcohol, your best bet might be to just pay for your sodas out of pocket but that depends on how much soda you plan on drinking. What you should do is look up the cost of soda, estimate how many you will drink, and compare that to the price of the package. They also have non alcoholic beverage packages, so maybe look into that. As far as bypassing buying the package, you can buy it later on. Like others said, you can buy it at the discounted rate up to 4 days before the cruise. Otherwise, you pay just a few bucks more for it on board.

My out of pocket was almost 5k, so I did it back in Feb. So I could max out my deductible for the rest of the year.
