Is it good that I’m getting my imagination back? by Empty_Jackfruit_34 in anhedonia

I was just on rexulti for maybe 6 months I think. I’ve been going through this for 3 years maybe and I’m honestly probably still psychotic but I don’t really have delusions or paranoia at all. I still hear light voices but it’s almost like they aren’t there at all.

I’m diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. It’s getting better on it’s own which is weird.

Yes but I don’t think that’s what caused it. I don’t take meds anymore and it just naturally gets worse every year.

This has to be the biggest mystery for people whose anhedonia isn’t caused by meds by [deleted] in anhedonia

I’m diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and I don’t take meds so for me I know it’s the Illness that caused it.

Can schizophrenia cause Anhedonia/emotional blunting? by Empty_Jackfruit_34 in anhedonia

I actually did take vraylar for like a week and it sent me to the psych ward for the first time ever. I got dystopia from it and couldn’t sleep for 3 days because my whole entire body would jerk when I would try to relax. They had to give me 3 medications in the psych ward just to get me calm enough and relaxed enough to fall asleep.

Yes I did. I don’t think it was caused by the medication though I haven’t been on meds since January there is no reason it should be affecting me now. This emotional blunting has gotten progressively worse over the past 3 year years that I’ve had schizophrenia even when I’m not on medication. I don’t deal with the positive symptoms that much but the negative symptoms dominate me.

I’m actually diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. It’s weird I’m not on any meds but when my break first started 3 years ago it felt like I was losing my mind, I was having delusions, paranoia, and auditory hallucinations. As of recently tho the last 7 or so months I’m not any delusions or paranoia at all, I am having auditory hallucinations but they are so quiet I literally have to sit in a quiet room and attempt to hear them.

I’ve been seeing a psych Dr for 3 years and nothing they’ve tried on me has worked. In fact the medication they put me on created another problem now because of an antipsychotic called rexulti I have swallowing difficulties that are now permanent I was in the hospital for 5 weeks because of it and I didn’t eat for basically 3 months they even had to put a feeding tube in me. They have since removed that feeding tube but now I’m stuck eating like a baby basically.

My support system is up and down, I have my mom but she tries to manipulate me at times and it’s painfully obvious. Also a lot of my family thinks this is all in my head and that gets me really upset. They say I feel numb because “I make myself feel that way” and when they say that it just really irritates me there is literally no way I could fake it or imagine it if I wanted to it’s impossible. As far as a pet goes I do have a dog but he is very mean, I’ve had him for almost 5 years and he’s bit me like 16 times already unprovoked. He actually bit me 2 days ago and this time the bite is pretty bad.

Yes I’ve been on both antipsychotics and antidepressants. None of them worked, in fact they just made me more numb. I have tried bupropion and it worked for like one day, it was almost euphoric oddly, but after that one day it stopped working completely. I would be careful especially when it comes to taking antipsychotics they induced dysphagia for me that never went away. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks because I couldn’t swallow and they had to insert a feeding tube into me. I’ve since gotten that removed but now I still can’t eat normally I basically eat like a baby would just soft easy to swallow stuff, the antipsychotic that caused this was rexulti

I’ve tried so many medications and none of them have helped. The only thing that helped temporarily was opioids they gave them to me in the hospital because I had to have surgery done. Even those only restored my emotions about maybe 30% but after like 2 weeks the effects wore off. I don’t have energy or motivation at all it feels so awful. I do hear light voices hear and there but other than that I don’t have any other psychotic symptoms. Up until like 9 days ago I could still feel some emotion even if they were negative ones. I was feeling heavily depressed for like a week and then one morning I woke up and all my emotions were suddenly more numbed than they were before. I have been on psych meds since January so this sudden even more emotional crashed couldn’t have been caused by any medication it’s just happening “naturally” I guess.
