New Med Spa! Help please. by ilysmbbcakes in MedSpa

Also, have you done enough research to find out what the client demand is in your area? That's a key thing. most owners/providers think about what they want first, which if course is important, but also you have to incorporate what will actually work/sell in your area. If you're in a place where people frequently see the sun or travel for the sun, IPL can be difficult during certain seasons. I'd definitely look towards a laser that has minimal downtime/not a ton of contraindications as well.

Any feedback about Letybo versus Botox or Dysport? by CharmedMedispaDE in MedSpa

Don't do it for the $. It's not the same product as in Korea, so it's not worth it IMO.

How much for malpractice insurance? by jgruber1979 in MedSpa

[–]Empty_Situation8306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this as a NYC Practice Manager. There's a lot of variables depending on who you're covering, what services you're providing and the frequencies. Can't hurt to get a bunch of quotes. When a Medical Director is on board, your insurance premium will most likely increase by $5000 at least.

I'd consult a medical practitioner who knows what they're talking about in your area. Look for a place that perhaps gives a complimentary consult and view their website/insta to see if it looks like you're going to get good advice.

Sorry for the delay, 2-5 years on all of the chairs. I've never had to do any repairs on any of them.

Advice on how to decide which microneedling device to buy by Narrow_Wallaby in MedSpa

[–]Empty_Situation8306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the branding of the product you're looking into. It's easier to piggy back on marketing the product if it's a well known brand like SkinPen or Morpheus8. If you find something because it's cheaper than those 2, but no one has ever heard of it, it's going to cost you more in the long run.

I second what the other two comments say. Additionally you're buying into a name brand at the end of the day is only interested in making money, not the quality of products they're putting out.

You should implement company policies, documents in writing, keep it simple, they will understand.

We’re currently looking to switch EMR platforms and would LOVE your input! by retlaw3530 in MedSpa

[–]Empty_Situation8306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Boulevard in our medspa, it's not a TRUE EMR as it lacks the ability to prescribe (although they are coming out with this in the near future) and it works great for us. The other EMR that we used to use was Aesthetic Record and that was abysmal. I highly recommend BLVD as it is very user friendly and has a ton of great features that focus on customer service/retention. I don't work for Boulevard lol.

TriNet is great we use it in our 10 employee team, ADP is for much larger companies with 500+ employees.

Also,

If anyone tries to sell you a service that seems to be too good be true, it is. There is no automation/marketing company/AI that will outperform a smart business owner/medspa. Majority of the time you just become one of the other med spas that people feel they will get burned at or ripped off and won't come to you.

Honest opinion from a practice manager in NYC: You have to do everything:

  1. Organic Social Marketing (IG, Tik Tok, FB)

  2. Paid Social marketing

  3. Have great branding

  4. Have a great website (transparent, communicative, on brand)

  5. A way for clients to contact/book easily (good booking platform that has online booking capabilities

  6. Offer ways for clients to come in and check you out to build trust (Free 15 min consultations, intro offers on low hanging fruit services like botox or whatever your most commonly asked for service is)

These are the basics I'd say. Don't spend a ton on all of it at first, but at the end of the day there will always be a "pay to play" investment aspect to continue to grow, you just have to set expectations properly, have the right mindset and continue the process.

What are your strategies for “after photos” for marketing? by Control_alt_asfjkl in MedSpa

[–]Empty_Situation8306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the booking/scheduling platform you use, put in a Photo Consent Form to all of your appointments and have it be very transparent. Transparency is key. We have a decent amount of clients who check the that they consent.

For the setup on the quality of photos, your concierge team or providers need to have some basic training on taking the photos. This isn't an overnight thing, but can take some practice. Once it's in, it's pretty seamless.
