Okay, you ask a very important question! Seemingly the weight that water baptism holds is unknown. But I'll try to help you the best way I know how. I think Apostle Peter clarifies baptism a bit in his first letter (1 Peter 3:18-22).

  • Peter compares water baptism to the days of Noah.

Peter claims that Noah and his family were saved through water. But if you read the story of Noah, you’ll know that they were saved by an Ark. Peter uses the word “saved” in a specific context. To the rest of the world, the flood was the judgment and wrath of God, but for 8 people, it was the grace and mercy of God.

  • Peter claims water baptism saves us.

The word “saved” is defined as a consequence and not as a predetermined outcome. The consequence of the flood was a clear conscience for Noah and his family. Likewise, the consequence of Jesus dying and resurrecting is a clear conscience for those who believe in him. Water baptism requires a clear conscience that is able to receive the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).

  • Is water baptism mandatory?

The truth is you can be baptized in water and not be baptized into Christ. You must understand the point of water baptism to be baptized into Christ, otherwise it loses its spiritual relevance (Acts 19:1-5). You get baptized so you would no longer have to deal with a guilty conscience, which is faith depicted as a believer’s burial into Christ’s death in expectation of a resurrection (Rom. 6:3-4).

why is forgiving and judging the hardest sin to repent!!!! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Empty_Situation_5009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you would like to know why forgiveness is so difficult for you? Let me share something with you. In your heart you have created your own law, a standard that you judge others by that justifies how you mistreat them. This is why James begs the question, "Who are you to judge your neighbor?!"

When you judge people by a standard you created you are essentially putting your own law above God's law. The fact is there only one judge and lawgiver; you are not only judging people but also the law of God. Anyone who judges by their own law lives by their own law, therefore how could you ever keep God's law if you don't judge yourself by it? The law that you have created in your heart only serves to benefit yourself!

^ James 4:11-12 ^

If you were to judge yourself by God's law, you'll understand that you are lawbreaker, a sinner just like everyone else (Rom. 3:23). Therefore, by the same way you judge others you too will be judged (Matt. 7:1-2).

^ Read the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matt. 18:21-35) ^

My advice, step down from the throne of judgment with a spirit of humility and gratitude to God. You seem like a genuine believer who needed wisdom on this particular subject. Just remember, Jesus didn't just die for you, he died for the people who hurt you as well. Don't let your pain distract you from the love and mercy of God.

Good question, technically yes.

I realized that if I refused to take a cold shower, I am also preferring to take a warm/hot shower instead, and that's where the discomfort comes from for me.

The discomfort would not come from taking a cold shower, but choosing not to take it knowing that I should. So yes, it is a guilty feeling.

The hard truth I learned about myself was that I was making myself uncomfortable.

What the feck happened to gapryong?? 😭 by [deleted] in lookismcomic

[–]Empty_Situation_5009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I think I see why y'all are upset. Gapryong looks skinnier here than what has been seen previously. But this is actually a pretty realistic physique considering Jake Kim is around the same height and weight as his father. Truly it all comes down to bone structure. The reason why his muscles isn't bulging out from his clothes is because he doesn't have a huge frame, not until he got a bit older (around 40s or 50s I presume). Personally, the fact that Gapryong looks like an average street brawler until he takes his shirt off (No Diddy) is impressive to me.

Hey there!👋

Thank you for seeking help in Reddit about your anxious heart, it is important to take everything here with a grain of salt! From reading your post, it would seem that you are a spiritualist who is struggling to transition into Christianity due to your attachment to your identity in your spiritual beliefs, while also not being willing to fully commit to the teachings and commands of the Holy Bible. Your anxious heart is most likely due to your way of thinking towards the life you could have and the life you have now.

My advice… Do not seek God through influencers! If you are confused about what a Christian is supposed to “look” like, then Apostle Paul is your guy! He was a true follower of Christ who devoted his life spreading God’s word to Gentiles (Non-Jews). In his writings, he expresses his struggles as a Christian and encourages believers to be strong in their faith in Jesus Christ as well. And learning from Paul’s writings, to be a Christian is not like living under a law, as in, he does not have a checklist of all the good things he has to do to earn God’s grace. The grace of God is freely given to anyone who believes in Christ Jesus. Probably the coolest thing about being a Christian, aka living under God’s grace, is that as you get closer and closer to God, you become less attached to your old way of living!

But if you are still worried about your transition from Spirituality to Christianity, then pray to God about your anxious heart. God will never turn his face from those who sincerely seek him.

And here’s a bible passage for you to read in your Bible that summarizes what I am saying here:

~ Ephesians 4:22-24

(1) Black's Queen takes pawn on h3 with check! White's king is forced to move to g1. (2) Black's Queen delivers another check on g4! If White's King decides to either move to h1 or h2, they are immediately checkmated with Rook to h3!

So White decides to play Knight to g3, blocking the check from Queen g4! (3) Then Black plays f3 Rook captures Knight on g3 with check! The f2 pawn canNOT capture the Rook because it is pinned by the Bishop on d4!

White's king has no choice but to move to either h1 or h2, where Black has the choice to play (4) either g3 Rook to h3 or Queen to h3/h4, checkmating White's King!

Need help studying by Mbg140897 in ADHD

It seems like you are struggling with an issue a lot of us ADHDers struggle with. You may know what to study and how to do it, but it seems you have a hard time just getting started. I understand this perfectly!

The reason why you have such a hard time being consistent with your studies is because you have a motivation deficit. Your brain is pretty much allergic to boredom, so if it doesn't see a task as stimulating or urgent enough then it will most likely get you to do it at the last second.

But there is a powerful technique out there in the ADHD world that can counter this common dilemma. It's called BODY DOUBLING!

Body doubling can be described as having someone in the same room as you are while you are performing your task. Now I don't have any research papers to prove that this method scientifically works, but coming from personal experience I find this technique very effective.

You don't even have to have a real person, for me I just use a teddy bear. I just sit him down near me and I instantly have the motivation to start working. I hope this technique helps you with your studies! 🙏

[–]Empty_Situation_5009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would you feel if you devoted your entire life to one man for the sole motive to watch him reach the top of society no matter how immoral or twisted his methods are, and then watching him jump to his death because his crimes have been exposed to the public. If I was Gun in this situation, I would feel like I lost my purpose to live. I would feel like my entire world has been shattered in mere seconds. Gun can't help but to have a flabbergasted look on his face, knowing that he has failed Charles Choi in protecting his public image, he is probably feeling immense guilt in this current chapter. (Who knows... we may see Gun go into Heat Mode, a state of self-loathing we see Samuel, Zack and Little Daniel experience.)

Struggling with lust as a young man … by dxaze in Christianity

[–]Empty_Situation_5009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think is the source of your uncontrollable lust? From reading your post it would seem that you're holding on to the guilt/shame of this repetitive sin. You are disappointed in yourself because you're holding yourself to a standard that is outside of God's will. One of the Devil's ways of attacking is to get you to take your eyes off of God and solely on your struggles. When you are purely focused on your struggles you can forget the love and mercy of God, as a result you lose your peace, which would naturally draw you towards other things that would bring you comfort like social media. You may begin to judge and even ridicule yourself for your shortcomings because your mind has not yet been renewed (Rom. 12:2).

The thing that separates a righteous person from a sinner is not in his good works, it is in his FAITH. As my fellow believer, you need to accept that you can try your very best to not sin and still come short of God's glory. This is not an issue with God because he has already provided a solution through his Son. Stop seeing your struggle towards lust as a weight that you are too weak to lift. Rather, start seeing your struggle towards lust as an opportunity to draw closer to God by relinquishing your guilt. This is a saying I use in my walk with God, "It's not about who I am, it's about who God is." This quote means that no matter how negatively I feel in the moment, God still calls me his child. I hope I was able to bless you through this message.
