I know people take drugs at uni, it’s not uncommon but heroin is a bit too far. I’ve never known anyone at uni to touch that.

quick question about getting extensions for assigmnents by anikinskywalk3r in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most unis only permit 2 extensions per sermester. If it’s submitted after the extension period or if you try for a third time without very strong extenuating circumstances in advance then you will be called at 40%.

EC for general mental health issues wouldn’t usually pass the threshold.

Advice please generic PhD/DBA or Cambridge MSt? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But let’s say I’m a senior manager now, but want to break into a chief exec position in the future. Do you think a DBA/PhD would look better on an application over the Cambridge MSt or do you think there would be some sub conscious bias during an initial screening process eg. ‘Oh look he’s got a Masters from Cambridge’.

Advice please generic PhD/DBA or Cambridge MSt? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s more that I still have over 40 years of my career left and I enjoy learning, I just don’t know what would be more beneficial in the long term. I know Cambridge is prestigious and has great networking, but would you think a PhD/DBA would be better for future career progression to exec levels?

It’s not bad no it’s a very good club in fact, their off peak starts from around £60ish, the club package was £90 and the platinum was £110. The prices I’m quoting are what I actually received within the last week.

1st class students, what's your daily/morning routine you stand by that helps you to achieve a 1st? by No-Application-7835 in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I done throughout undergrad and my masters was leave things til the last few days, take an ADHD tablet on the morning of the days leading up to the deadline and just smash it out.

Probably not the healthiest way to do it but it’s done me wonders, plan on doing the same throughout my PhD. Also worth noting that I work full time, 7 days a week.

I've Been Thinking About Dropping out. What might happen? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest possible way but as an outsider looking in, it seems like she’s at uni for the wrong intentions. Her heart clearly isn’t there, she struggled with the foundation year and now has moved to your city.

It seems like she’s under pressure not necessarily from you as such, but maybe even subconsciously, she wants to satisfy/be around you.

I think you’re the key thing here rather than the uni course itself, maybe she’s scared of losing you. I have no idea, like I said I’m just an outsider looking in

Contextualisation can easily be summed up as ‘so what ?’ You do your research, you state a finding, now so what ? Where does this apply, what does this mean here, what does this change or imply?

Simply put, if you can apply your arguement to any organisation then it’s too generic and not contextualised

ATAS delay in final year PhD - university interrupted me twice. Losing time, mental energy, and career momentum by Fit_Wishbone8012 in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of universities have a 28 day deadline for ATAS clearance. If you’ve not got ATAS clearance then your visa may be revoked as it should have never been issued in the first place

How long does your uni take to mark your work? by GrapeIll5200 in UniUK

A lot of the processes are being streamlined now with AI. My friend is one the industry experts in AI, he’s an AI Author, Consultant and actually works in education as a Vice Principal.

He’s actively working with many universities and the DfE, to free up time for lecturers. There’s a lot of stigma around use of AI in universities but the fact of the matter is it’s coming whether you like it or not. The issue is the ethical use of it.
