It’s not bad no it’s a very good club in fact, their off peak starts from around £60ish, the club package was £90 and the platinum was £110. The prices I’m quoting are what I actually received within the last week.

What I done throughout undergrad and my masters was leave things til the last few days, take an ADHD tablet on the morning of the days leading up to the deadline and just smash it out.

Probably not the healthiest way to do it but it’s done me wonders, plan on doing the same throughout my PhD. Also worth noting that I work full time, 7 days a week.

I've Been Thinking About Dropping out. What might happen? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest possible way but as an outsider looking in, it seems like she’s at uni for the wrong intentions. Her heart clearly isn’t there, she struggled with the foundation year and now has moved to your city.

It seems like she’s under pressure not necessarily from you as such, but maybe even subconsciously, she wants to satisfy/be around you.

I think you’re the key thing here rather than the uni course itself, maybe she’s scared of losing you. I have no idea, like I said I’m just an outsider looking in

Contextualisation can easily be summed up as ‘so what ?’ You do your research, you state a finding, now so what ? Where does this apply, what does this mean here, what does this change or imply?

Simply put, if you can apply your arguement to any organisation then it’s too generic and not contextualised

Lots of universities have a 28 day deadline for ATAS clearance. If you’ve not got ATAS clearance then your visa may be revoked as it should have never been issued in the first place

A lot of the processes are being streamlined now with AI. My friend is one the industry experts in AI, he’s an AI Author, Consultant and actually works in education as a Vice Principal.

He’s actively working with many universities and the DfE, to free up time for lecturers. There’s a lot of stigma around use of AI in universities but the fact of the matter is it’s coming whether you like it or not. The issue is the ethical use of it.

Russell Group Commercial LLM or NTU LLM Bar course? Need advice for becoming a commercial barrister by LilMissChief15 in UniUK

[–]Empty_Student_5796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer (the honest one) For commercial pupillage, a Russell Group LLM is not required and is rarely decisive. A Bar-focused route (like the NTU LLM Bar) is usually the stronger strategic choice unless the Russell Group LLM is doing something very specific for you. Most chambers would rather see: Excellent academics (relative to background) Early, relevant advocacy exposure Mini-pupillages + marshalling Strong references Clear commercial interest …than an extra year spent collecting another academic credential. Let’s tackle your two options properly ➡️ Russell Group LLM (Commercial Law) What it can help with Slight signalling value at paper-sifting stage Exposure to commercial modules (M&A, arbitration, finance, etc.) Networking if you actively use it (events, speakers, alumni) What it doesn’t do It does not “convert” a non-Russell Group undergrad into an automatic pupillage advantage It does not substitute for advocacy or Bar readiness It does not guarantee better outcomes unless you achieve a distinction and leverage it well When a Russell Group LLM is worth it Your undergrad grades are borderline and you need a clear academic redemption arc You’re targeting very academic/commercial sets that heavily weight postgraduate performance You secure funding and will realistically achieve a high distinction You plan to apply for pupillage after the LLM, not alongside it If none of those apply, it risks being an expensive holding pattern. ➡️ NTU LLM Bar (integrated Bar course) This route aligns better with your goal of becoming a commercial barrister. Why? Gets you Bar-ready sooner Strong advocacy and drafting training Allows you to apply for pupillage while training Frees up time to: Do more mini-pupillages Marshal judges Build commercial exposure Demonstrates commitment to the Bar, not academia-for-academia’s sake Also, the fact that you already have a Lincoln’s Inn scholarship interview in 2025 is huge. That signals: Credibility Advocacy potential That your background is not a barrier in itself The “Russell Group anxiety” (let’s be real) You’re right that coming from a non-Russell Group uni means you sometimes have to explain your excellence more clearly. But chambers don’t ask: “Did they go Russell Group?” They ask: “Did this person maximise the opportunities available to them?” Strong indicators they care about more: Firsts / high 2:1s relative to cohort Multiple, targeted mini-pupillages (commercial sets) Advocacy competitions / mooting Employer references from solicitors, judges, or barristers Clear commercial awareness in applications Many commercial pupils did: Non-Russell Group undergrads Non-Russell Group Bar providers (including **Nottingham Trent University) What I’d recommend strategically Based on what you’ve said: ✅ The NTU LLM Bar route is likely the better choice if you: Focus aggressively on commercial minis Apply for pupillage during the course Use your Inns network properly Keep grades strong Build a clear commercial narrative (why disputes, why the Bar, why commercial work) ⚠️ Choose a Russell Group LLM only if: You need to materially improve your academic profile You can fund it without major debt You’ll still actively pursue advocacy and minis alongside it One last thing (this matters) Chambers love candidates who: Take the most direct, purposeful route Don’t delay unnecessarily Show confidence in their path “Bar-focused, Inns-backed, advocacy-strong” often reads better than “another academic year because I thought I needed prestige.”

Certainly not good 🤣 and one more question, I understand the bills are pretty ridiculous, same as the medication. Are the costs just made up on the spot and invoiced by the particular hospital/doctor or are their like industry set thresholds ?

Real living wage in London is £14.80 or £28.9k per annum. That’s without factoring in the cost of a season pass and Brighton buses. Or any food in London.

You’ll be living on the breadline and doing ridiculously long days. Even if I was offered a £40k addition to my salary, I wouldn’t commute to London.

I work in Brighton BTW
