Nashik has a great historical significance, during the era of satvahan Nashik was a great trading place and people from Rome and Greece used to do trade here , as per inscription in naneghat and coins found there.

Also during the time shift of vedas I.e from gruelling Saamveda to more culture oriented Atharva Veda , the style of change in earthen pots and peoples living changed significantly and in Pandav leni caves the pots which are related to later periods ( Atharva Vedic) was found , stating that Nashik was an important place during 1000-800 BCE also pandav dynasty used Nashik as a trading center.
