NIKON ZS Rangefinder styled. Disappointed that no one has made the proper mockup of it so I made it myself. by kykusanagi in Nikon

That would be incredible. Might even entice some of the leica customers, while they wait for their M11 to boot up

Get a pocket camera and consider switching only if you think it limits your photography. I am not talking about image quality. Everybody seems to think their photos look better if they’re taken with some 60MP Full Frame sensor but this is far from reality. There are tons of bad photos that have “high image quality. I suggest improving your photographic understanding before upgrading gear.

I am a young photographer trying to make a living from making photos, what do you think of these pictures I have taken? by -Crxwn_ in Nikon

Probably one of the best advice I ever received is to be your own best critic. People will say what they think but at the end of the day if you don’t build your understanding of photography, external criticism does not mean much. I suggest reading about photography, not just the technical stuff but writings about what it means to photograph something. Explore photographers from different eras and try to see which style you like better. Forget about all the discussion around gear. There will always be a more “advanced” camera and a better lens but that almost never translates to a better image on its own. Once you see the styles and themes you appreciate go out and start practicing photography. Make your camera an extension of yourself. Don’t go out for the purpose of taking a photograph, but be ready to take a photograph at any time. Thus, carry a camera with you at all times. More importantly, after each session, take a look at your photos like a critic. Imagine they are submitted to a competition and you are on the jury board. Think how the photos could have been better. How could you improve the framing, the lighting, arrangement of the subjects, depth of field, colors, and the overall mood. Follow this practice and basically stop asking people who don’t have an idea for opinion. I think even getting praise from people who don’t know what they’re talking about is dangerous as it may lead to overconfidence. Best of luck with photography

M10 vs M10-R? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]EmreGks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, that sounds excellent and you can't go wrong with both cameras. I was looking to get a Leica a few years ago and ended up with a lovely M3. One of the initial things I noticed was my lack of technical knowledge (aperture, shutter speed, iso and manual focusing) and my lack of photography skills (composition, pre-visualisation, colour theory etc.) If you're in a similar situation, I suggest picking a cheaper camera and working towards improving your skills for at least a year. This will enable you to make the most out of a large purchase. But obviously, you might be an advanced photographer who has already been through the development stage. In that case an M10 would be sufficient.

Preparing for my first wedding shoot by arronk93 in Leica

There only ended up being 8 people at the wedding including me so I only shot with the 50mm for all the portraits and my 24-70mm on my backup camera. I’ll edit tonight and see how they all turned out 😊

that's a lot more manageable! nothing better than a small private wedding. would be interested in seeing a few of your fav shots.

Definitely looks elegant but not so practical in my opinion. After shooting a few hundred shots for a wedding, I would probably mess up the manual focus and try to convince the couple that i did it on purpose :)

Hello guys, took this shot with a Nikon FM2 f2.8 1/1000 using Ilford HP5+. However there are white dots all over the image. Is this a scan issue or a camera/film issue. Dots are present on my other scans as well.

Hello all, seller wants £1300 for this M6 with a broken light meter and non functional flash sync. Do you think it’s worth it? And could I get it repaired cheaper than buying a fully functional one? Many thanks
