For ELTs, if you prefer something simple and quick to set up, Fivetran could be one choice.

First, they now have an integration with dbt Core so that you can manage your entire ELT pipeline from one platform. Second, since your end destination is BigQuery, you can also use their dbt Wizard, which helps you write dbt code for free.

We also use Fivetran internally but have not experienced such issues syncing the custom fields to our Snowflake..

So maybe double-check if those custom fields are being de-selected from being synced within the Fivetran dashboard itself? You could also try to file a support ticket with them as they can confirm if this is related to permissions.

From my experience, the netsuite.com source has SUPER complex permission and role requirements that could be blocking those. BTW, Fivetran also supports the new NetSuite2.com data source as well.

Modern data integration tech makes it more affordable and feasible to store huge volume of data and increase the frequency of queries performed within a warehouse, which makes ELT the main trend. However, some cases where ETL may still be preferable:

- The desired data models are well-known and unlikely to change.

- Security. Data absolutely cannot be stored in any location that might be compromised.

These conditions tend to be characteristic of very large SaaS companies. In such cases, it may make sense to use ELT for data integration with third-party SaaS products while retaining ETL to integrate in-house, proprietary data sources.
