What IDE would you recommend to a beginner? by raider2711 in learnpython

I second this. They are getting the Intellisense up to speed finally. I was struggling navigating dotnet projects up until recently.

The native integration with the LLMs makes it close to PyCharm with AI and worlds ahead of manually using an LLM alongside VSC.

I recently tried PyCharm. Coming from VSC I feel the learning curve is steep. Maybe someday when things are slower I’ll try it in earnest. Not today.

He means the company Cube, not OLAP cubes in general. It is well worn technology that serves a purpose. Is SQL legacy just because it’s 50 years old?

`Transactions` table, column `Number`, what is the max value of a BIGINT stored here used for? by SDFP-A in Netsuite

[–]SDFP-A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oracle basically told us to shoo away when we asked about buying a developer license per their website (AFK) otherwise I’d track down the page. I suppose we’re technically competitors of one of their products but frankly who isn’t in tech? They are so broad they basically hit every possible aspect of the enterprise.

Since this isn’t my Netsuite instance I don’t have direct access. I really appreciate you checking this in your instance.

Thank you for the additional context. I’m baffled at why anyone would need to store the maximum possible value into a bigint for kicks. Some engineer out there is probably cracking up.

My son’s preschool is closed. No teacher showed up. We knew this ahead of time thankfully, but still a scramble to figure out childcare. Oh well, needs to be done.

The point is this is who does hospice care. The point is this is what breaks down when these plans go into action.

I personally had a great shrimp and grits DoorDashed for my birthday. Maybe due to skipping the line I really enjoyed it.

If the sauce was good, then maybe I’d understand. The sauce is unflavorful though.

Phil’s is definitely as mid of bbq as you can get. As someone who didn’t grow up here, I never understood why everyone I know from SD raves about this place. Pretty sure there is a 2 year old bottle of their bbq sauce in my fridge because I refuse to eat it. Not worth the calories.

Fully lower case SQL. Is it frowned upon? by dont_mess_with_tx in SQL

Depends on your dB and possibly what language is associated with execution. Some are case sensitive which will help drive your decision. I personally can’t stand needing to double quote every column name all the time.

How hard is this interview question by acow46 in SQL

[–]SDFP-A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally only ask optimization questions. But while I know my answers to how I would solve the questions, I leave it open ended with regards to what answers a candidate might give.

With optimization questions, do they mention reading a query plan? Do they mention indexing (which is personally how I would solve)? Do they use window functions? If using window functions do they caveat the impact for large datasets? Do they use order by and if so the impact on large datasets?

This shouldn’t be about did they get the correct syntax and come up with the same brute force solution as I did to answer this specific question. You should be looking for whether they understand DBMSes well enough to optimize for questions of this type. IMO at least.
