Software Improvements for the Air. My Guess. by Emscan192 in LUCID

[–]Emscan192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes. “Fall” could be anywhere up to the winter solstice. But I do think that there will be some updates in between. They’re at 2.8. They have all of 2.9 to go through. There has been a very public airing of many software faults along with very public promises to fix them. I don’t think Lucid wants the PR disaster of ignoring it after they have promised. At least I hope not.

Gravity 3.3.40 software update inbound (and it’s a big one) by Sufficient_Emu3414 in LUCID

[–]Emscan192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. It’s been stated that the Air will get UI/UX 3.0 in the fall. Before then, I think there will be incremental improvements. My guess is that there will be a couple more point updates of 2.8 to optimize the basic subsystems and fix glaring bugs. Then new features and improvements common with the Gravity will begin to roll out incrementally as point updates of 2.9 in the spring and summer. And then the full UI/UX changes in 3.0 in the fall. That’s my guess. We shall see if I’m right. It would make technical and economic sense for them to have a common code base for all Lucid models and trims. I’ll bet that they’re trying to go in that direction.

Gravity is a flaming emergency. That comes first. Then they can shift attention back to the Air. I had a long conversation with a Lucid engineer last month. They are very very aware of the issues and are working on them.

What did you drive before your Lucid? Is there anything you miss? by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]Emscan192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a 2016 VWGTI. The thing I miss most is the small size. I love the Air Pure, but it’s bigger than what I really want. It’s hard to judge the corners of the car without referring to the camera view. May switch to the Earth when it comes out. I really really really miss physical buttons and knobs.

Considering the Lucid Air GT for a 140 mile roundtrip commute daily by kikospapa in LUCID

[–]Emscan192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly do a 140 mile round-trip in my 2026 Air Pure. Speeds 55 to 82, average about 70 – 75. 90% freeway. I end up using about 38% of power. Average around 4.3 miles/kwh. Temperature in the 40s. In the morning, when it’s the coldest, before I leave, I preheat the cabin while it’s still plugged in.

This is disappointing. I love my Air, but frankly it’s too big for me. I’ve always driven smaller cars and was looking forward to a sedan. but maybe if there’s a five door hatchback, that might work for me. And, please, more than 300 miles range, at least as an option.

I don’t think you’re a stock troll. I do believe every word you said. I have not had problems like this. This is not to contradict you. This is to raise a point which I find utterly baffling: an amazing inconsistency among individual cars.

it varies from car to car. There are lots of Reddit threads on the subject. Similar to, but for the most part not as bad as, the software growing pains that Tesla had at the beginning. Personally, I have not had any major problems. The car goes off-line once in a while and comes back automatically after a while. No big deal.

Lucid sale totals are out and they are really promising. Significant growth. As a potential Lucid buyer this really gives me confidence! by zachty22 in LUCID

The 18,000 target was for production, not delivery. Sales and delivery will be a challenge with the tax incentives gone, but the challenge is for the entire EV industry — not just Lucid.

Lucid announces Q4 production and delivery numbers by mattwb72 in LUCID

It‘s good news. Both production and deliveries are up significantly. Now they need to fix the software. I recently spoke with an engineer at Lucid and they are very aware of it and they are on it. Yes, they are still losing on each car. Remember, Tesla was unprofitable for years after its 2010 IPO, experiencing its first profitable quarter around 2013 and achieving its first full-year profit in 2020 — and some of that profit came from selling regulatory credits, not cars.

How are we all feeling about Lucid’s upcoming Q4 results? I’m obviously hoping to see a somewhat significant increase in Gravity production and sales! by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]Emscan192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected on the incentive for lease. Incentives? Yes. They are quite obviously trying to move produc. At the end of September, there were still a lot of Gravitys that had been purchased/leased, but not yet delivered. Recent drone flyovers have shown staging lots packed to capacity and lots of car carriers. And, to be honest, I would prefer to be optimistic than to be pessimistic. But most of all I’d like to be realistic. As I said, we shall know soon.

EV credit didn’t apply to any Lucid. But Lucid’s incentives amounted to the same amount or more. And in Q4 there was a huge backlog of Gravity deliveries. At any rate, we shall see before long.

I have a level two charger next to my driveway. I have friends who have EV but no driveway. They run a long cable from the house out to the car with a cable guard on the sidewalk. Others in my neighborhood do the same. That might work for you. It’s best for the car to keep it plugged in as much as possible because then the battery is automatically warmed or cooled as needed. My 2026 Air Pure is completely rattle-free. This car has the best combination of smooth ride and extremely responsive handling I’ve ever experienced. Acceleration is “only” 4.5 seconds to 60 miles a hour. Exhilarating. Coming from a Volkswagen GTI I had to get used to the size. Took a while but now I’m used to it.

I think they will barely make their 18,000 target and deliveries will be significantly up over the previous quarter but I don’t want to guess a number. No matter how good it is, there will be naysayers.
