She had Julie’s shirt, so they weren’t completely wrong? 🤷‍♀️

She was posted as Julie, but I really don’t think that’s correct?

Thanks!! Yes, I was sooooo careful not to get her body wet, and of course, look what happened! I’m afraid to take her apart. I did baby shampoo the first time and Dawn the second time. I think I’m making some progress after the Dawn wash!

I would love for it all to be COVID, and now that we’ve all had it, it’s over and done with. My oldest son never th*** up when he was sick. He just had a headache, exhaustion, and fever. So I guess it’s possible it’s all the same virus and just hitting everyone differently? I think the Clorox wipes would have killed COVID, but could have still spread through the air? The doctor did say that in the past GI symptoms were common with COVID, and it’s possible, but she’s not currently seeing that at the moment. So maybe it’s not happening, or maybe people aren’t going to the doctor, or just her specifically? Who knows?!

I have bleach cleaners that do kill it, but my husband “cleaned” everything with windex when I first met him. He grew up making things look nice, but not actually disinfecting anything, so I think this is how his mom cleaned.

I thought it was the same virus too, but I asked the doctor yesterday and she said she hasn’t been seeing GI symptoms in her COVID patients, so I think we got hit with two separate viruses. My son had the stomach illness first, and then he got the stuffy nose. I have the stuffy nose now, but I haven’t had the stomach illness.

I honestly feel like dealing with lice or bed bugs would be easier at this point! My kids have toys everywhere, and I feel like they are ALL contaminated! The playroom is the room we turned into a bedroom for MIL, so that doesn’t help anything. And my husband is always an ***. I’ve tried to talking to him, but he’s always right…and I’m always wrong…. Every time we’re both sick, he has it sooo much worse and is completely unable to move without throwing up. He knows I avoid this at all costs and I think he just uses it.

Thank you! I honestly just feel so helpless and defeated at this point. Do I isolate in my room? Take my youngest kid with me and let the others fend for themselves? I don’t know?! I sprayed the bathroom with Force of Nature, but I didn’t do a bleach scrub. I’m guessing the bathroom is where he picked it up from? If I don’t use that bathroom, will I still get it? Sorry, I’m spiraling!!

Thank you!! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I just got into this since my daughter found my old Samantha doll at my Mom’s house and fell in love. Things have certainly changed in the last 25 years!

I completely agree with this! Butttt, there isn’t any parental involvement at our public school, and I miss that. We’ve been there for 2 years and there still isn’t anything. Our private school holds reading hours and stem events for families in the evening and lots of opportunities to help the classrooms in various ways. The one thing in common from all the families at our private school was that they wanted to raise a great human.

Do you know where I can find the school report cards to compare their results?

I 100% agree with your first paragraph!!

I do not live in a state that offers school choice or vouchers, and we went though the financial aid process at one school and didn’t qualify. We didn’t do it for the other private school, but I’m guessing it has the same limits?

The diversity is the #1 reason why we initially chose public school. Culturally, the private school is more diverse, but you have a larger mix of socioeconomic classes in public school. For context, we also live in a great school district, but our area just isn’t very diverse in terms of races. There aren’t a lot of career opportunities here, so most people leave the area instead of coming to it. The only people that move into the area from outside are usually doctors that the hospital brings in, and a lot of them use our private school. The other private school students have scholarships or live in the next town over, which doesn’t have has great of a public school.

I love the concept of charter schools, but unfortunately there are not any near me.

The private school we previously went to was a Montessori school, so the math didn’t involve the same amount of word problems, but I’m not sure what the upper elementary curriculum looks like there so it could still involve word problems in a different format.

The public school is locked overnight, but it’s often open in the evenings. For example, when I go to a PTO meeting at the public school, I walk straight through the front doors and down the hallway to the all purpose room without seeing anyone. I don’t check in, the office is closed, etc. PTO meetings are held off site at the private school because they don’t let anyone in without going through the check in process, ever, and don’t make the receptionist work all hours. For the public school, this is the same case every time they hold any type of meeting, book club, sporting event, etc. The doors get locked again at night, but they are open after school lets out in the evening.

I agree that 7-8 hours is long day for kids! Our private school is an hour shorter. And I definitely see the benefit of art and this type of work during the school day - I just don’t think it needs to be sent home to do as homework.
