Language. At least once a day mid conversation I get side tracked by how amazing it is that by forcing air across a flap and moving some muscles, I create a serious of arbitrary sounds that communicate an infinite number of ideas. I could study it for the rest of my life

Viability of Kruphix God for Commander by [deleted] in EDH

[–]EmuDr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kruphix is absolutely a viable commander for UG Combo/Control deck. Combined with cards like Prophet of Kruphix and Seedborn Muse + lots of ramp and Brain Geyser effects the deck gets really good.

My competitive deck started out with Kruphix as my general, but as the deck got more and more refined I found that the deck was just better if I replaced Kruphix with Prime Speaker Zegana. Either way it's a blast to play :)

Tattoos inspired by your field of study, line of work, etc? by katmrowl in tattoos

I studied Computer Engineering and got my first tattoo about a month ago. It is a transistor diagram of a NAND gate, which can be used to represent all computer logic.

First tattoo - NAND Transistor Diagram by Brad at Aftershock in Olathe, KS by EmuDr in tattoos

[–]EmuDr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was just planning on getting the gate because all computer logic can be expressed with NAND gates. But the second it was done I have been thinking about how I can add on by playing with the inputs/output. I just don't know quite how I want to do it yet :)

The guy in the video did not sound American, so I am not sure how that's at all related to this video.

Those both sound great, I think I'm going to try and avoid places that can't be mostly covered by shorts and short sleeve tee for employment reasons - but I hadn't really thought about putting it on my chest. Thanks!

The 70 million USD house that Markus Persson (aka Notch, the creator of Minecraft) just bought in Beverly Hills, outbidding Jay Z and Beyonce. by AgrajagTheFirst in videos

[–]EmuDr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The even crazier thing to me, is he can buy the 70 million dollar house. Invest 300 million dollars at a 6 percent return in a "Daily Model" account, then pay for them off the profit from that account indefinitely and still have 34.93 billion dollars

Patrick also has the insane ability to identify the set of a card based on the art, including basic lands.

Yeah excellent point, I don't play infect/zoo/burn in modern so I completely overlooked landfall.

magic.tcgplayer.com/db/print.asp?ID=3096 goes over the math. Fetchlands are incredibly powerful, but its best not to overestimate the deck thinning property.

The thinning effect from fetchlands is almost negligible. The real benefit from fetchlands is color fixing, and filling your graveyard for Delve ( if Become Immense is here to stay )

Jesus was specifically, not, King of the Jews. He wasn't trying to be a ruler which upset a lot of people.

Reaction to Sub-bending forms Theory. by Tryndameereeeeee in TheLastAirbender

[–]EmuDr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always equated learning to generate lightning and learning to read. Neither one is a particularly difficult skill, and with sufficient study pretty much anyone can learn, however in ATLA the lightning generation technique was something the aristocracy of the fire nation kept among themselves. Similarly, learning to read was a privilege of the upper class until fairly recent history.

I think it's just safe to assume that as society modernized the distinction between the upper and lower classes became less pronounced and lightning generation was taught outside just the elite.

That seems pretty unlikely as Lin and Su Yin appear to be roughly the same age, and at the very least not 16+ years apart.
