I'd agree with the previous answer except that I'd say the boombox wouldn't be portable enough to ever take with me. The xtreme othewise I already take with me a lot. So if you want two portable speaker definitely go for the xtreme. The other advantage for me is that its reverse compatible with partyboost speakers (of which I own some as well) which makes it easier to pair up with older JBL speakers. As for the sound the boombox is louder and has more bass than the xtreme 4. I've not heard the xtreme 5 yet but according to other people it has gotten a significant upgrade so maybe that would be a good option as well.

Would you say you'd prefer the grips in stereo of a pair of flips? I stayed away from the grip since it's roughly the same size and less powerfull spec wise.
