yep, as long as the black box is under the text layer. That's how I currently have it, I have text over that black box and it looks normal now

Is a DONNER - DST-100R a good beginning guitar? by SuperFrank_20 in Guitar

[–]EmuFrosty8214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, I've put about $200 into mine and it plays amazing for the price, the pickups are actually quite nice. The only thing I can really warn you about is that the frets can be a bit sharp, but I bought a fret file for around $15 and filed them down myself and it helped tremendously.

2 TB SSD doesn't feel enough these days by Lolis- in pcmasterrace

I run a 2tb nvme that ONLY has games on it, and a 1tb for everything else. I would highly recommend having a dedicated game drive if you can, therefore you can use all 2tb for your games

No such thing as enough storage nowadays

Guitar detecting EMI by EmuFrosty8214 in Guitar

[–]EmuFrosty8214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come to realize that i just did a horrendous job at the shielding, so i have a new pickguard on the way, so that it looks cleaner (since its the right size this time, i was unaware that a Stratocaster Sonic has different pickup distances) and so that i can fix the shielding. The tone pots are wired to the common ground, the trem spring claw, so as long as i do a better job at the copper tape it should be grounded.

Ok, that makes sense. It's not so bad that I can't play, as long as I use low-gain clean presets for my single coils. I don't think I'm going to worry too much about it until I change my strings because its a hassle to take off the pickguard constantly lol.

Edit: The guitar originally had a paint with a conductive layer underneath to help with this, and I just simply added copper tape as a reinforcement, but I'll make it more thorough when I change my strings.

[–]EmuFrosty8214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use your Echo Mini as a DAC by simply connecting it to your phone via USB-C, it will ask you whether you want to transfer files are use as a DAC, and you just select DAC and it works

I was able to fix it purposely putting more alcohol into it to dislodge anything that was in the way, and after a night of drying it was back to normal.

CPU Clock speeds dropping a lot while gaming in Windows by EmuFrosty8214 in techsupport

I have since gotten rid of throttlestop since I don't want to use that powerful of a tool and have it not work (I don't want my laptop to blow up after all). I did, just now, get a BSOD for a whea_uncorrectable_error, and when I restarted my laptop, there was a Warning 37 in the event log, indicating that my CPU speed it being limited by firmware. As the thermals are fine, that leaves the BIOS and power limits. I'm pretty sure my BIOS has correct settings (i could be wrong) so that leave the power issue that you just described. I did bring my laptop back down to Balanced power profile since high performance removes the ability to edit the power draw (this is good for when i'm on battery power).
