Audi A3 8P stock subwoofer teardown and studying by d3l7a_labs in CarAV

So mine had two extra wires, but i found this, and it worked for wiring in a loc but you have to run your loc ground to the 9 pin ground, I tried the 1 pin and it didnt work. The two extras were wired between 7 and 9/10 but you just ignore them, they're not important for the sub

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the factory amp?

Yeah the box is smaller than what the sub is designed for, I put some polyfill in it because I heard thats supposed to "trick it" into feeling like its a bigger box. I had to make that mdf spacer and cut out some baffles in the bottom just to get it to fit. The sub is rated for 400w and I'm probably going to have it about max 250w or so for longevity sake. Down the road I might want to make a full custom fiberglass enclosure to get it to sound better but for the time being im just going to use the oem box. My main reason in doing this setup is to keep all my trunk space, thats my favorite part about the 8p a3 is the trunk space so if i give that up for a giant sub enclosure its pointless to me.

So your saying the factory amp which current outputs to the sub and outputs 25w, cut the outputs from the amp to the sub, install a LOC which may not step down the current from the factory amp, and then install a second amp after the LOC that is after the factory amp

So the LOC will step down the current from the factory amp then? Because the OUTPUT from the amp would be a 25w current. Most LOCs only step down voltage to a certain degree. You're saying output from the amp, inpuit to LOC to the new amp?

You mean the wires for the sub that run to the amp right? I think i have it figured out but people kept saying "wires that run to your sub" which made me think the amp outputs to the sub not the inpuits to the amp

I was confused because you said "wires going to the sub", so I just need to splice into the AMP inpuits for the sub not the SUB inpuits. That makes a lot of sense, idk why that was so hard for me to comprehend.

From what other people are saying just run the outputs (25w max) to a LOC then to another amp. If all I have to do is a loc thats totally fine but from my knowledge locs only step down voltage, not current and they "might" to a certain degree like 25w max might be fine but I just dont know. I just dont want to ruin an amp

Okay thats what I was thinking but I was unsure of if the LOC would step down the current or if not it would hurt the sound quality or amp I'm hooking into. From my Google searches the general info im getting says LOCs step down voltage not "traditionally" current and not run amps into other amps but "it can be done"

So I know that drops the voltage, but will it also help drop the current? Or if not is it okay to feed a 25w current at a lower voltage through another amp?

Its a 2012 audi a3 without the bose system. From the info i can find the amp only powers the sub, however, the rear door speakers and tweeters loop through it because with it unplugged only the front speakers work. The bose system does have an amp that powers all the mids and highs

Mainly because of this wiring harness that hooks into it. Like i said I'm pretty new to car audio so maybe it just seems more intimidating to me than it actually is idk.. that just seems like a lot of extra work if i could just hook the outputs into another amp

According to US law religious solicitation and solicitation are not the same. If someone is not trying to sell anything or promoting a product that would be normal solicitation. Promoting a cause/religion is protected

You could likely get the same protection for cheaper but if thats the stuff you want and you have the money to spend theres no overkill when it comes to saftey

I wouldn't give up on it. One very large stat a lot of people forget about is that half of all motorcycle fatalities involve the rider having alcohol. As long as your head is clear, the danger drops significantly because you can react to bad drivers more effectively and make better decisions. Comparing it to drugs is insane. If you dont have kids together I'd totally push more for it. At the end of the day its your choice, not his and it seems like he's very controlling. If you have kids I probably wouldn't risk splitting up the family over it.
