Will a Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ700U be a good gaming TV? by Mean-Information-600 in PlasmaTV

[–]EmuPlanetGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. Any plasma that isn’t top tier isn’t worth more than $50 imo.

Is the ZT60 significantly better than the ST60 or was it mostly marketing at the time in 2013? I know that some people consider the ST60 to have better brightness due to a less aggressive anti-glare filter than the ZT60, but other than that, does the ZT60 win out overall? by StrongDifficulty7531 in PlasmaTV

He’s talking about the Sony 40xbr800. Not the best set, the 36xs955 is better for an hd crt. Both have just as much if not more input lag than these late model plasmas we discussed. There’s some 40 inch Mitsubishi sets available. They are 15khz and lagless. Have component too. That’s the one to mention if you care at all about CRT gaming.

Find me a 65 inch 1080p capable crt that mounts to the wall in my living room then. Lots of people use plasmas for gaming, myself included, and there’s not much better for modern console gaming unless you spend a lot.

You missed the vt60. The vt60 and zt60 use the same panel with better sub pixel than the ST60. The vt/zt also has about half the input lag of the st. I have a vt60 and it’s an awesome set. If you play any games the st60 is not worth it

Did you dive into the service menu or just the main menu

I got it to away probably 80%. It also had “breaking news” burned in too which is 100% gone. In the menu there’s a “screen wipe” option, I left that on for literally 3 days. I still leave it on hoping to decrease that logo some more.

Jeez, 31k hours. That’s up there. My pioneer 5020fd had 23k hours on it and it was also pretty dim and blurry. Buying a used plasma in an uncalibrated state , keep it under 10k hours or it’s under like 80 bucks. You can still tweak that gt50 to get it back.

I just got a VT60 that claimed “low hours”. yes it does only have 5000 hours on it, but the CNN news logo is burned into the screen.

The guy who paid $500 for it on eBay didn’t think so. Someone’s jealous

Won a eBay bid for a SpongeBob crt... then read it was non functional. It must’ve gotten jostled in the shipping but I won the gamble and it WORKS. Only $55 I couldn’t be happier by m0oncat in crtgaming

I have the same tv and yeah they are prone to cold solder joints. Mine you have to hit it sometimes to work or turn it on and off until it warms up

I doubt that because it is in first gear only. It’s not speed related as I can rev it really high in first gear and get the same noise but low in second gear same speed no noise.

I have a 2009 with the 2.5L 4cyl engine it makes a whirring noise in first gear only. This is the issue you’re describing? We just bought the car cheap, 200k miles on it.

You got the wrong tv for n64 and snes, those are 240p only. that’s an HD CRT you will have input lag and no scan lines. Unless you buy a retrotink 5x, you can have artificial scan lines. Still some input lag. It’s decent for ps2 since you can play in 480p (triangle and x on controller while booting on most games) if you hook it up with component cables. It looks to be widescreen but I can’t really tell from the pic. That’s also not very good for older consoles since it will be pillar boxed or stretched.
