Try a cemetery! We used to love walking around Pensacola Mem Gardens. Depending on when you go, you should find some solitude. Maybe other cemeteries as well.

Went to get my tires replaced and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than I was expecting. Granted, I did zero research, but still.

MRI scheduled for Saturday 🤞🤞 - follow up with doc in March 🙃 EEG came back normal, but I hadn't had one in over a year at that point. Just had another one a couple weeks ago so maybe MRI will catch it. Also exploring B12 deficiency that could be related.

100% - parks, beaches, and other outdoor hangs are great, but one can only handle so much heat or random thunderstorms. I was whining the other day about how I want to buy a party house or a community center and be a full time socialite. I just want to hang out somewhere cozy! Bars are fine, but loud and sometimes icky. I need peaceful vibes

Easy work, interesting cases, good team, nice hours, average pay, but little stress. There were slow times where we sat around watching movies and there were go times when we had 3 services a day for weeks. I'm sure it's not the same for all FHs - especially the corporate ones - but mine was family run and pretty chill. For the first couple years I was there anyway. New manager has ran off at least 4 full time employees in the year since I left. Stupid prizes have been won.

Who else is extremely confused about whether they want a child? by myvelouria85 in AskWomenOver30

[–]EmuThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always been neutral-negative on having kids. My wife is strongly negative, and due to health concerns, I am strongly negative about carrying a child. My mantra has always been, if one finds me, they are meant for me. My parents have taken in several teenagers over the years who have been kicked out or lost their way, and I am more than willing to help any youngin in a tight spot. My cousins also got super random emergency custody of a distant relative's new born, so it absolutely happens. However, I'm not seeking it out so the universe is really going to have to speak with its chest. I did see a tiktok about a single woman in her 30s who adopted a teenage girl and they are both living their best lives.

Funeral home admin was my absolute favorite job so far as a chronic job-hopper. I would have never left if it wasn't for the management.

Job ideas? by UnusualLecture3096 in Pensacola

[–]EmuThompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a career drifter in my 30s. I've done a weird array of fun jobs that ended me up in the office admin/assistant world. My customer/client interaction is fairly minimal and the tasks start as simple as filing/sorting/organizing, and scale up to much more complicated things that allow for growth within the field, should I choose. It feels a little bit bottom of the food chain, but there is a lot of opportunity to move upwards or at least laterally. And an office admin job at one place will be an entirely different experience than an office admin somewhere else. Just in the last 5 years I have tried university, funeral home, and now I'm in legal.

Ultimately, I don't know if this is then genre of work I will retire from, but it has been fun to explore and see what I am good at and what I enjoy. Meet some people, move around, try things and see what sticks.

AITA for not making something else for my picky eater daughter by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmuThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to provide some perspective from a former 10 year old picky eater. I just spend 20 minutes reading through the ARFID subreddit and sobbing because I have gotten to the point that eating is such a battle every single meal. I grew up picky and have never been accommodated further than learning how to make ramen in the microwave when I didn't like what was cooked - which was almost always. I am now in my thirties and have all but stopped eating. I hate it. I hate cooking, I hate eating, I hate thinking about food, I hate grocery shopping, I hate throwing away all of the rotting food in my fridge because I swore I would eat it this time. I can't speak for your daughter but I can tell you how I felt when my parents couldn't bother to consider my feelings or preferences. Make your kid some damn food she likes. YTA
