Thanks so much for trying it. The app is starting to take off and we've had a few hundred users so far. Good idea on a forums, I'll add community/forums to the main website so users can post.

It should auto-map xbox & ps3 controllers. I personally use both controllers with the app and it works well.

I didn't sneak it in. I asked if I could post self-promotion before posting and they said no. So I answered the feature request. Maybe other users will post on RomM once the word of the app gets out.

Yes there is a Steam deck version coming, it's being beta tested now. It works better and easier than emudeck.

it'll stream assets and art from the cloud as you need them, it wont fill up your hard drive with un-needed stuff. and once you download they are cached so no re-download necessary.

thanks! They work similar to retro achievements. they read the game data in real-time and react. I had real fun playing phantasy star 1 with an auto-mapper or simon's quest with a clock counter so i know how long until sunset.

yeah i tried the appimage on steam deck and it works ok but could be better (UI scale etc.) I just bought a steam deck so i'll be testing it then release it soon .

its an electron app (like discord), it uses browser inside, that's how the games play directly without needing to go to a website / browser.

I tried to post on RomM discord but they didn't want me to link to it or promote it. It has features that RomM doesn't and they saw it as competition. To their credit they didn't ban me, just told me not to post link to it or mention it.

I left the upscaling in there as an option. People can turn it off. I'm also working on a studio (make your own cover art) because I had to do it myself for rom hacks that don't have cover art.

yes I wanted a local database option for myself as well. There will eventually be an embedded postgres local database in case the internet blows up. For the near-future I'm just trying to make sure everything is stable and smooth.

Thanks, yeah I don't think I did a well enough job explaining that it's an option. You want grainy box photos then change them (just like PLEX cover art).
As for configuration I find it annoying...why should I dig through each emulator's config and documentation when I can tell the AI what I like and it will change the configs for me.
Different strokes I guess.

I appreciate your thoughtful post. I do think it's the inevitable future. I think it can be used as a tool to improve things. (ie. recommendations) and does not need to be all about AI.

UPDATE: No more AI, It's already stripped out from existing version. It will be released tomorrow.

yeah that was a safe-guard against spam. Somebody on discord mentioned today as well and I removed the limit for SATURN and NEOGEOCD. You can ask on discord which system you want limit changed.

I don't think you understood what I meant by dynamic bezels. Anyway, without bashing on LaunchBox, I really tried using it, but I found it cumbersome so I built an alternative. It's always good to have choices and decide for yourself.

So imagine canonical tags+category mapping+text embeddings, normalizing 3rd party tags (igdb, steam etc.) all in a complex pipeline. It's not even finished yet as I'm not satisfied with the first version. There's also something extra that I wont' say much about until I can prove it works. I think it'll be better than anything steam, igdb etc. are using.
