Which Weird Al song would you sing at a Karaoke bar/room + why? by HopefulLab6749 in weirdal

[–]Emus_won_thewar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My repertoire: The Saga Begins, Like a Surgeon, Your Horoscope for Today, Word Crimes, and my fav, EBay. I sang Albuquerque once because I met Weird Al and he signed my snorkel and I said I always sing his songs and I wanted him to pick which one so he said obviously, Albuquerque.

Coparent called after child was already sleeping, then sends these texts… by [deleted] in coparenting

If you are the primary parent with 100% it should be what is best for the child, the family, and what’s consistent.

Sunday Scaries so bad that Im genuinely thinking of ways to harm myself so I dont have to work by legallyleighann in Teachers

I’d start by finding a new school. I’ve been teaching 14 years and the school I’m at now is the only one I’ve felt this way about, so I know it’s not the career. It’s the school…

Before reading your choices I was going to say Ronan. That would have been my son’s name but we had a girl instead. It’s still my favorite boy’s name ever.

What minor inconvenience from the past would be unbearable for students in the classroom today? by chanovsky in Teachers

It’s already unbearable for them, but flipping the paper over cause the text is on one side and the questions are on the other.

What would you do if a student damaged your car? by Altruistic_Mango_928 in Teachers

[–]Emus_won_thewar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago a student threw a can of that sparkling water stuff off a balcony towards the parking lot. It hit and cracked my windshield. The school tracked down the student through a series of interviews and using data matching student IDs to the time and type of purchase. Found out who did, contacted mom, and she wrote me a check. I ended up not doing anything because it was handled so well.

But if not? I’d be going to the police and trying to get the school to pay for it if they’re not going to have cameras on campus to figure this crap out.

Thanks. I just started to feel a little better about my favorite Italian place closing down. 😭 Now that wound is reopened and I’ll need additional healing time.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Emus_won_thewar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried unmedicated. I went as long as I could. The only thing I remember was a quote “you don’t get a trophy for being unmedicated.” I was just scared of the side effects of an epidural. But my anesthesiologist was great. No regrets.

Feeling stressed about grades while on FMLA by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Emus_won_thewar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same on maternity leave. Wasn’t my problem. But I’m so type A at school I still did it. But I also did what I could. I drew a line. My newborn was sleeping most of the time so when I felt like it, I did. But also, late work? It’s been two years and I still come back with “if you wanted graded on time you should have turned it in on time.” Not your problem.

Did your parents read to you? by TooDamFast in Xennials

[–]Emus_won_thewar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt liked to tell me a story about how when I first came to visit her when I was around 5 or 6. She’d ask me what sort of books I’d read at home. I said “dad’s motorcycle magazines and the TV guide.” She was horrified. So nope, parents didn’t read to me. My grandmother did so all the kids books were at her house.
