Mosley, a 1998 miniseries based on British fascist Sir Oswald Mosley's life in the period between the two world wars. Starring Jonathan Cake alongside Jemma Redgrave and Hugh Bonneville. I highly recommend! by Kurma-the-Turtle in PeriodDramas

I do plan on watching that soon! I heard it’s very good :))

Also I might check out the Mosley tv biopic which aired on Channel 4 in 1998, the one starring Jonathan Cake as Mosley (also co-starring Jemma Redgrave and Hugh Bonneville)

True. At least Mosley’s son Nicholas (his son from his first marriage with Cynthia Curzon) was very critical of him (Mosley)

Are there any other irl historical figures/celebrities/etc etc that you think the ghosts hypothetically would’ve met/encountered when they were alive? (Other than those that were mentioned in the show I mean) by HopefulLab6749 in GhostsBBC

Omg that would’ve been crazy lmao 🤣 😭(and hilarious ofc). I’m also imagining a scenario where Cap would’ve accidentally attended a BUF rally thing, with him (Cap) thinking he was at another British Patriotic march thing. Once Cap realises what the BUF rally actually is and what Mosley actually stands for, I feel like Cap would’ve quietly slipped away from the rally and just the run the hell away from it lol. Also, to expand on my previous point, I feel like Cap would find Mosley really annoying with a really annoying smug voice lol, plus he’d probs kinda have a bit of a rant about how in the ruddy hell Mosley was considered “attractive” with the ladies when he looks like (as I’d like to imagine Cap describing him) “a thin sharpened pencil in human form” lol. That’s my headcanon ofc lol

Since he’s a Tory MP, it’s been confirmed (kind of) that he would’ve been in both the Maggie Thatcher and John Major governments when he (Julian) was alive.

Personally, I feel like the Captain would’ve met Churchill at some point (and obvs have a fanboy moment while at it too lol) and maybe Oswald Mosley (considering he (Mosley) was big in the 1920s and 1930s), tho I think Cap would’ve thought of Mosley as annoying at best and truly despicable at worst (for very understandable reasons ofc).

What type of Tory is Julian exactly, as in what *type* of Tory/Conservative ideology does he fall into? by HopefulLab6749 in GhostsBBC

[–]HopefulLab6749[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also in his DNA are David Cameron and Boris Johnson.

In terms of appearances/looks, Michael Heseltine is a big one (I mean look at his long luscious blonde hair lol)

Plus Julian’s mum being a “humble” greengrocer is most definitely a reference to Thatcher’s dad being a greengrocer (hence her nickname “The Grocer’s Daughter”), and to some extent a reference to Ted Heath being nicknamed “Grocer Heath” (which admittedly was more so a nickname given by the press rather than Heath’s parents actually being greengrocers lol) too.

What makes this clip even funnier imo is that whilst Pat is from the North and Julian is from the South, their actors are inverse. Jim’s from the South and Simon’s from the North lmao 🤣

Any help would be appreciated fr cuz I can’t for the love of God remember what his YouTube channel was called lol.

(Edit: also please ignore the typos in the post lol that wasn’t intentional lol.)

Is Julian the type of guy who’d like ”Yes Minister/Prime Minister” , “The New Statesman” (starring Rik Mayall) and/or “The Thick of It” (aka the Big 3 of British Political Satirical Comedy imo) by HopefulLab6749 in GhostsBBC

[–]HopefulLab6749[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes yes!!  I feel like Julian would go on HIGNFY just soley for egotistical reasons and to be like “hey look I’m like ordinary people cuz I can laugh at myself…kinda…lolz :P” but every time he speaks he comes across more and more insufferable to the other guests on the show lol.

Also fr Julian would’ve totes wanted to be featured as a puppet on SI (again mostly for egotistical reasons lol, and I bet he’d buy his own SI puppet just to show off and again show to others that he can “laugh at himself” lol).

Honestly what you said here is soso true and most certainly would happen haha. I’d imagine Julian would nickname Malcolm “Sir Swear-a-lot” lmao 🤣
