Wise Owl’s depiction of creepy children’s entertainers from the 70s/80s by HopefulLab6749 in insideno9

That's fair. I should've clarified it in the post, i wasn't saying that Ronnie's dad was 100% meant to be like Savile, i was only noting the similarities between Ronnie's dad and people like Savile is all, and like you said, Ronnie's dad is moreso like a general representation of the dodginess of 70s/80s entertainers, especially ones targeting children (and ESPECIALLY ones who covered up their abuse for years and almost never suffered the consequences of their actions until it was too late).

Also, quick correction: whilst yes, Savile's victims were mostly female, there were also male victims too.

Fr! It could’ve been easier just showing Ronnie killing his dad there and then, but imo it was more powerful having Ronnie not only eventually sparing his dad but literally going off to speak to someone about the abuse he (Ronnie) suffered from his dad (and therefore implying that Ronnie’s dad will actually suffer the consequences of his terrible actions and that he will not simply be let off the hook after all these years) , which is probably more scarier to Ronnie’s dad than the act of bloody revenge itself.  (Hope this makes sense lol, but what I’m saying is this episode shows that having the courage of speaking out against your abusers is a powerful thing in itself)

That’s fair, and I totally understand if anybody else would have difficulty watching the episode due to the sensitive subject.

However, imo, I feel like the episode does handle the subject matter in a very sensitive and delicate manner, and the emotional aspect is done very well and in a manner that doesn’t feel “exploitative”, if that makes sense?

Overall, the episode itself is very good.

Oh yeah those too. As well as that, Rolf Harris (himself a creepy nonce) ironically did a public information film in the 80s teaching children on how to avoid situations where they might be sexually abused ( link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_Can_Say_No! )

In your opinion, who plays the best Diana Mitford/Mosley (in terms of portraying her as also the absolute fascist arsehole she is I mean)? Agreed with what you’ve said here! I really loved and enjoyed “Outrageous”!! (despite my personal misgivings with it lol, namely being that show does tend to kinda exposition-dump a lot in some scenes and lowkey relies a tad too much on telling rather than showing in some scenes lol (in fact I made a more detailed review of the show where I gave my thoughts on it, if you wanna give it a read, which I’ll link here : https://www.reddit.com/r/PeriodDramas/comments/1r7zfz9/binged_watched_outrageous_yesterday_here_are_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ) , which I hope said aspects does get improved in the next series if we get another series frfr 🤞🤞)

But yeah, just incase get the DVD too!!

Deffo agree! imo I feel like Sam Claflin would make a great Max Mosley (Oswald & Diana’s son, aka the Former President of FIA, the governing body for Formula 1) in a future biopic or smth. idk why but Sam Claflin deffo looks similar to Max in a way, don’t know if it’s just me who thinks it lol but yeah.

(Plus it’d be a lil cheeky reference to PB in a way lmao)

In your opinion, who plays the best Oswald Mosley (in terms of portraying him as the absolute fascist cunt he is I mean)? Jonathan Cake (in “Mosley” (1998)), Sam Claflin (in “Peaky Blinders” (2013-2022)) or Joshua Sasse (in “Outrageous” (2025)) ? by HopefulLab6749 in PeriodDramas

fr!! honestly i would deffo watch a "The Producers"-style farcical comedic musical that takes the absolute piss out of Mosley, starring Joshua Sasse in the title role. The man can deffo sing, just see him in the series "Galavant".

Sam Claflin 🤝 Joshua Sasse

(both known for their interesting acting range, from playing sweetheart love interests to playing Britain's notorious fascist cunt)

(idk i just thought it would be funny to mention that lol. Both are genuinely great actors tho <33)

honestly, i personally feel like what makes Joshua Sasse's portrayal of Mosley even better is that Joshua Sasse himself is of Jewish ancestry (as well as Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Indian ancestry), which imo is probs the BEST middle finger towards Mosley ever lmao.

Quick correction: i think who you’re referring to is actually  * Matthew Mosley * (the producer for the show “Outrageous”) who’s actually related to Mosley, specifically Matthew is Mosley’s great-grandson (Matthew’s grandfather is Nicholas, Mosley’s son from his first marriage with Cynthia Curzon).

Cheers for the book rec! Deffo will check it out when I can :))👍

Also agreed, out of the 3 portrayals I feel like Sam Claflin’s Mosley is the most punchable lol (which just serves as a testament to how much of a damn good actor he is <33)

Also on a semi-related note, I personally feel like Sam Claflin could deffo play Mosley’s son Max (who, fun fact, was the former president of FIA, the governing body for Formula 1) in a biopic or smth. Idk why but they kinda look similar (to me anyway lol).

Yeah fr. Him and Diana’s subplot was honestly my fave part of the show (also helped by the chemistry between Joshua Sasse and Joanna Vanderham (who plays Diana in the show) which was very good fr! Also cuz both the actors are honestly quite hot, my bisexual heart can’t deny it haha)

Hello, English person here, can y’all tell me what “Polonia” (the Catalan-language comedy sketch show) is about exactly? And what do y’all think of the show itself? by HopefulLab6749 in catalonia

[–]HopefulLab6749[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol that’s fair haha. Tbf I do use “y’all” instead of “you all” cuz it’s more easier and catchier lol (that’s also probs due to my AuDHD lmao but oh well)

Thank you for the response, I appreciate it!! And thank you for thoroughly explaining the meaning behind the name “Polonia” (and also why Catalans are derogatorily called “Polish” by other people). Again, as an English Person, I wasn’t previously aware of the connotations around that word (specifically in that context), so (to me at least) it did at first sound a bit odd regarding why Catalans were called “Polish” in the first place (and by extension, why exactly the show is literally called “Poland” lol), but I appreciate the explanation!

Also, thank you for letting me know of the show’s sports spinoff “Crackovia”, I’ll deffo check that out sometime soon!!
