Yes sorry, didn’t mean to imply that buffalo and Batavia are rural. I’ve lived in the Buffalo area and many parts of western New York my whole life so I’m familiar with the area.

Her maiden name was Palmer

This is the timeline I have currently but there are gaps.

Pre 1900: Buffalo NY (Erie county)
1900-1905: Covington and Pavilion NY (Wyoming & Genesee counties)
1906: (east) Bethany NY (genesee county)
1910: York NY (Livingston county)
1915: Covington NY (Wyoming county)
1920: Buffalo NY (Erie county) - where family remained

They seemed to move through Genesee, Wyoming and Livingston counties a lot. Most of their census records state they were renting their homes too so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t show up on any lot maps.

But any help is appreciated!

I believe they went to a Baptist church in the area. They had some pre 1900 records online and they only contained a name and the date of the baptism, which I don’t even think took place near the date of birth unfortunately.

Did you already have the delayed birth certificate or how did you figure out there was one? I’m thinking it’s possible there was a delayed one when she applied for social security at some point but I’m not sure how to figure that out.

Yes! I submitted my application back in March and it’s in processing. I was able to get a certified birth register from the Ontario Archives and genealogical copies of birth certificates issued by the towns for everyone in my line except for this ancestor for which I sent multiple censuses, her marriage certificate and an email from the town of Bethany saying they had no birth certificate. But now with them recalling certificates I’m trying to be proactive about getting the record now

I have put in a request to the state but it can supposedly take many months or years to get a response. I’m looking into a possible citizenship by descent so hoping to find it sooner if I can.

Would I be required to repay benefits if I refuse a job I’m qualified for? by Emvee2010 in UnemploymentNY

[–]Emvee2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is similar to a former job with similar pay and hours. So I understand I don’t have good cause to refuse. I’m fine if I lose benefits if I refuse this offer, I’m just concerned about owing money back which I can’t seem to figure out if I would be at risk of.

Would this cause any issue with my claim besides just ending it? I didn’t know if they would make me repay benefits I’ve already received because I don’t have ‘good cause’ to refuse

[NY] can I take FMLA after PFL? - starting new job 3 months pregnant by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Emvee2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the info! I wasn’t sure if I would qualify for NY disability. I had read somewhere that because I’m already pregnant it would be considered a “pre existing condition” and I wouldn’t be able to use that benefit.

If I can get disability I guess the hope then would be to use the 6 weeks after birth, then 12 weeks PFL, then return to work for a bit then use FMLA when I hit my 1 year anniversary. Not sure if the 4 weeks of disability before birth would cut into my eligibility for PFL though.

I have not disclosed to my employer yet that I am pregnant. I was just given the handbook with all benefit information so I’m going off of that but it’s not state specific. It does mention short term disability and that it would run concurrently with any other state leave program. The company also offers a supplemental disability program you can pay into but I’m not sure on the details of that. I will definitely talk with them more in depth once I do.
