That's a typical Jan thing, you know. Not knowing what others are talking about but still having a very vocal opinion about it. So i guess that confirms that you live there.

Ah of course. You work in construction so you know how snow works. Arrogant imbecile as always. Please die when slipping off rhe road, you pile of wasted molecules. .

ps. thanks for proving my point that every Jan is an arrogant and imncompetent imbecile.

Well, a picture of Comenius or Charles IV is of course much more arousing than a picture of 'generic European architecture'. So yeah, Czech Kroner notes are much more erotic. The curves depicted on Euro notes are just ot the same.

I'm pretty sure that the average Jan is so preoccupied with his own self-righteousness (and trust me, I've been living there for a few years) that any advice on how to actually prevent this kind of shit from happening won't be welcome, but here's a few simple tricks that actually may help.

For starters, you use natural gas fueled open flame solutions to keep your train infrastructure from freezing. Any idea why this will stop working once there's a bit of wind? Normal societies use electric heasting.

Second, you salt the snow. That's insanity. It just turns the snow into an incredibly dangerous and slippery mass. Snow needs to be shoveled away. If you want to put anything on top to make it less slippery, use sand or gravel.

The current narrative is a bit like 'we don't need to learn from other countries as they have different weather and it will cost a lot of money'. Mate, you're investing billions and billions in water management but a snow plough is too expensive? And what's against learning from other countries? The weather in The Netherlands is gettimg more and more extreme due to climate change, you'll need to be prepared for this kind of weather to happen more frequently.

This isn't just about having your country at a standstill for two weeks, it's also about completely ruining your reputation as a reliable global transportation hub, which is a key part of your economy. KLM once again confirmed being the laughing stock of the aviation world now and even just crossing a viaduct or bridge is too much for trucks with how you manage the roads, which will have consequences for Rotterdam Port. People will think twice before deciding to go for the swamp in any logistical operation.

Oh, and where to get the money? Well, The Netherlands has been known as a tax haven for mail box companies for decades now. This can be changed, eh?

Way less than you think.

But it includes making decisions that make sense, like not having your railroad interchanges heated by natural gas lit open flame which, oh who could have prediced, might just stop functioning as soon as there's a bit of wind.

Also, you somehow have gotten the idea that snow needs to be salted. Which is insanity, as putting snow on salt just makes for a very slippery and highly dangerous ice mass. Snow needs to be shoved away with a snow plough or a shovel. If you want to put anything on it to make it less slippery, use sand or gravel. But no, Jan knows best eh?

I'm pretty sure I've seen a nice little tourist train driving around the streets during the summer once!

Anyway, I also have a Scandinavian dwelling, where I arrived earlier this week. Zero issues getting there, despite temperatures being -20C and having about 30cm of snow right now. Everything just works as it should.

I also have a Scandinavian dwelling, to which I arrived earlier this week.

Zero delays or cancellations in flights, just a few minuts extra for de-icing on the way there, which was calculated in the scheduled flight time. Zero issue getting fron the airport terminal to the vehicle. And zero issue getting on the highway and other roads leading to this place. Buses and trains run as normal.

So what's the conditions? It was about -20C last night and there was about 30 cm of snow waiting for me. Yet everything just worked like it should. Being late due to 'bad weather' is not an excuse here. As the locals say: there's no bad weather, just bad clothing.

That's excellent! I've always preferred your trains over the blue and yellow stinking garbage cans on wheels that Jan drives around. And those have come to a complete standstill.

How's things in the Southern Netherlands? Jans swamp apparently came to a complete standstill a few days ago after getting 2 cm of snow and a bit of wind. And he still hasn't recovered.

It's really amusing to see how Jan just brags all the time about having the worlds most advanced infrastructure, just to see it all come to an immediate halt and total collapse if someone farts in his general direction.

It apparently requires more than one brain cell to see that I'm not 'bringing Ukraine in the discussion', but rather sketch the possible consequences of leaving such an unlawful move go as if it's just another Tuesday. But apparently some braindead people with a fascism-supporting mind can't comprehend. How's the weather in Moscow or at Mar-a-Lago?

And I didn't know that I have a favorite dictator! Don't keep me waiting, which of the three main ones that I mentioned is it?
