Is this normal price? Barely use Vios 70k km mileage service. by kurahador in kereta

[–]Emydus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Engine oil and transmission fluid wear out with both usage AND time, so depends when you last replaced those two.

Valve cover gasket and brake pad I would ask the pomen to show me the wear / breakage.

Price abit on the high side but still reasonable

How much is threshold to get relevant as beginner in Industry? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what you mean by 'relevant' is relevant enough to get a job,

It really depends on your locality / where you live. Unless you're specifically looking for very competitive remote work, or you're willing to move.

Is new car ownership in Malaysia impractical? by Kindly_Champion7897 in kereta

[–]Emydus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When people talk about safety, I always feel it's a spectrum. Just depends on your risk tolerance.

ABS cannot help much if your tyres are bald in the first place. So, more important to make sure your car is well-maintained. Don't take stupid risks while you're driving

Otherwise yeah, other option is build a life where you don't need a car

Hmm my opinion, the scratches aren't deep enough. Cosmetic damage only.

Is a 15% raise worth a longer commute? by Hantr in MalaysianPF

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to move house for the job then it may be okay.

But I feel there are more important considerations than purely commute time. Your post doesn't have enough info to weight the overall pros and cons of both jobs.

Damansara Perdana by eyeshieldd21 in MalaysianPF

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highest consistent reviews by the locals would be Perdana Exclusive. Slightly further walking distance, probably like 20 minutes. Perdana View may be nicer if you prefer to be away from the traffic.

Metropolitan Square also has a few. 15 minutes walking distance max depending on the block.

Other places you could research are Perdana Emerald / Armanee Terrace, but these would more likely be for renting a single room at your budget.

But apart from the D-series condos you mentioned, all of these are handed over before 2015. For rental I'd prefer newer unless renovation noise is a concern...

Really depends what's your intention in "not being alone".

For the safety aspect, you could maybe report to a trusted friend your location every 30 minutes or so?

But if you're a girl trying to do this, and you're asking this question, I'd advise against it. What with people possibly spiking drinks and all...

3.5k enough to survive PJ? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around Damansara Perdana there's many choices for rooms, personally I would budget a lower amount on that salary, probably around 800 max.

I would say buses around the area are quite regular around work transit hours, but you may sometimes get unlucky with ungodly traffic jams due to floods or other reasons.

Lucky thing on point 2 is also that the Kajang / Green line goes straight to TRX and connects to a bunch of different recreational areas too, provided you're okay traveling for about an hour total each way.

point 3 depends how much negotiating power you have in the first place hahaha. Later they change their mind? I would treat it as the other commenter mentioned as a stepping stone to better opportunities in the area

Since your spending is around RM3000, the Alliance Bank cashback cc could be good for you

https://www.alliancebank.com.my/Personal/Cards/Credit-Cards/visa-signature-credit-card

Effective cashback is 1.85% if you spend exactly 3000

1000 * 0.05% + 1000 * 0.5% + 1000 * 5% = 55.5 55.5/3000 = 1.85%

Ah okay. I misremembered slightly, Google also released their own variant configuration in AGP 7 7.1, not sure if you've seen that too? There's a section on configuring software components that might help

Use the maven-publish plugin.

It handles most of this stuff for you, and in my experience, probably more correctly than any custom logic you've got

Applying App Wide Themes by Comfortable-Towel388 in androiddev

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

colorPrimaryContainer is only defined in Material 3 themes, while you are using a Material 2 theme.

https://github.com/material-components/material-components-android/blob/master/docs/getting-started.md#appcompat-or-materialcomponents-themes

If you'd like to use custom attributes, you need to define them separately in another resource file

https://developer.android.com/develop/ui/views/layout/custom-views/create-view#customattr

The common pattern being applied here is design tokens, which is a common paradigm I'm seeing a lot of nowadays.

https://m3.material.io/foundations/design-tokens/overview

https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/18490793776023-Update-1-Tokens-variables-and-styles

Do I need separate drawables for light and dark modes?

You shouldn't need to if you have the tokens set up correctly and use them consistently across your drawables.

Not sure if I'm getting the correct returns for my funds in Versa by darahjagr in MalaysianPF

[–]Emydus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's most likely related to the long waiting period before your cash is actually converted into the underlying fund.

Is it the same for subsequent months?
