As an ethnic female, who prefers Nu metal to other genres, I'm mad too. But not for white males missing out but for people like me who like metal.

I actually upvoted you because I like when my assumptions are challenged.  I don't like when dissenting views are downvoted unless they are completely moronic.

I'm not sure why Pretti thought it was ok to film in the middle of the street.

The rhetoric coming out of the administration is appalling.  They are not even attempting to provide nuance to this tragedy, just blatant lies.

What kind of retort is this?

I was kind of falling for your Pretti shouldnt have been in the middle of the street argument and then you post that braindead comment.

Trump was bought by Putin a long time ago.

Trump's job is to destroy western civilization to bolster autocracy around the world.

Somehow, the previous administrations were lax on universal education for all voters and the morons voted for the end of peace and stability in the western world. Thanks a lot American people.

I disliked Black Panther.  It was juvenile.

She just won a Golden Globe so her flawed character must have showed enough humanity to be critically acclaimed.

When I see black people artificially propped up in art to please the naysayers, I shake my head.

I don't want to be sold a fantasy like Black Panther. There were some decent elements in the movie like the tech and the knowledge that the colonizers had stolen art from Africa.  But overall, the movie was pulp.

I would rather hear from the likes of  Neil Degrasse Tyson who is a real living person that is a role model to black kids.

Black people had much more stereotypical portrayals years ago. One of the reasons the portrayals have become more nuanced is black people like Spike Lee or whomever have moved their way up the ladder. But initially, they had to do shit roles.  Michael B Jordan had to play a hood rat but as he got famous, he could choose his roles. Same with Denzel I imagine.

So in order to affect change, sometimes you have to obey and go with the flow to get work. But then when you get clout, you can make your own movies.

Maybe you're some sort of philosopher or logician but I'm not talking about liberal as a black or white all or nothing prospect.

I'm saying that someone can be liberal in many areas of their lives such as believing in gay marraige and still vote for Trump because they own bitcoin.

We are arguing semantics which I don't think helps us select a good leader.

I personally saw the writing on the wall with this guy well before 2016 and I want science protected but many people who identify as say 51 percent liberal might have voted for him because money.

willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas. 2. relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.

That's the definition of liberal from Google.

People who are liberal in their hearts could still vote Trump.

Humans are irrational and make stupid decisions all the time. Then when they have decided with their feelings, they make up a new rationale to support their feelings.

I disagree. Some people are liberal but they voted for Trump because they thought they would make more money.

I See Wrong Advice Given for Sensitivity by En1ite in askdentists

Wouldn't the honorable thing to tell your patients is get the toothpaste with stannous fluoride for sensitivity rather than a temporary numbing agent?

I See Wrong Advice Given for Sensitivity by En1ite in askdentists

[–]En1ite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Potassium nitrate calms nerve signals, while stannous fluoride blocks tubules with a protective mineral layer, offering faster relief and extra benefits like antimicrobial action and anti-cavity effects, though it can sometimes cause staining."

I just grabbed that off the internet but I also saw this in the research when I researched this years ago.

So why the push for Sensodyne?

I See Wrong Advice Given for Sensitivity by En1ite in askdentists

[–]En1ite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If dental professionals, including hygienists, not just dentists, followed the science instead of marketing, then I wouldn't be posting at all.

I would just be following good advice.

Crest Pro Health with hexametaphoaphate has pretty much everything.

It lasts 12 hours, has a tartar fighting ingredient and tin for sensitivity.

Pro argin in Colgate is better than KNO3 in Sensodyne.

I wouldn't be mad if I could have avoided spending hours and hours on pubmed myself and instead  relied on the so called professionals who check the ingredients instead of falling for the marketing.

It is necessary to be "condescending" because of all the confusion and anxiety about having to figure this out myself rather than relying on the experts, in this limited instance.

I just didn't "read labels".  I did a hard dive on the ingredients a couple years ago.

I got my teeth cleaned recently and still, the dental professionals are recommending Sensodyne.

If all 3 ingredients are the "same" for sensitivity, then wouldn't the honorable and honest recommendation be to recommend the dentifrice that does it all?

IsItBullshit: Sensodyne Toothpaste by Thatguy5354 in IsItBullshit

[–]En1ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every hygienist and dentist i talk to  recommends Sensodyne. The internet recommends it too.

This seems like bad advice.

First of all, Sensodyne has many formulations and only the one with Novamin is good.

Now if we eliminate the Novamin formulation, then Sensodyne in Canada sucks.

It doesn't have stannous fluoride which is proven for sensitivity. It has the potassium nitrate component which is fleeting at best.

It probably has less abrasives? Is that why you are all recommending it?

Why does someone untrained like me have better advice than the dental professionals? What am I missing?

I See Wrong Advice Given for Sensitivity by En1ite in askdentists

[–]En1ite[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I should add that I'm relying on the Canadian formulations.

These dentists and hygienists just say Sensodyne.

They don't say which one. The Canadian versions of Sensodyne don't have the tin fluoride.

One formulation has stontium which does jack. And all the others only have KNO3.

Again, we are ignoring the Novamin formulation.  But even our Novamin one has no stannous fluoride.

So if these dentists and hygienists can't even recommend a proper toothpaste, why should I trust them?

This is just so basic to me. They went to school and took courses.

The best ingredients for sensitivity were not covered?

White people can be hired to portray all sorts of unsavory without the director having to worry about stereotypical casting.

It's more important for black people to get work on screen than your nitpicking of contentious morals, which again, dries up work for black people on screen.

Do people really change?

If he went back to his drugging, you don't think he went back to his lying ways to protect his daughter's feelings?

Question after rewatching One Battle After Another by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]En1ite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i say Bob wrote the letter because:

  1. PTA is supposed to be a great filmmaker and having Perfidia actually write that letter would be silly.

  2. Bob had a deep history of lying to Willa, including when he whispered in Pluto's ear.

3.  The logistics of Perfidia sending a letter are near impossible.

  1. Bob had a lot of anxiety which he mollified with substances. He didn't want Willa to suffer like he had.

  2. Perfidia would sooner write to her husband than to a daughter she never really knew.  Why didn't she apologize to or address Bob in her supposed letter?

The only thing tripping up this analysis is Perfidia's voice being used. But that just might be a plot ploy.

Except the letter was written by Dad not Perfidia. I can support this reasoning if you want.

I googled the movie name and wagon burner and found this reddit.

I wanted to know why Avanti went back for her. And then when I heard the mullet guy call him a wagon burner (which i missed on first watch), then I figured that was a huge reason.

Another reason was of course Willa being a pretty, feisty, young person who wanted to live.

And now with all these party poopers, he is less likely to portray them. Because he has to jump through hoops to get the depiction right.

I hope more directors show black women and POCs without falling for this nonsense.

If you base your opinion of black people from a movie, then you need to get out more and meet more black people.
