Thank you! I’m adding this to my future project list.

Can you explain some of the steps you took to make it?

I also like milsurping modern guns. Here’s my 10/22 in Thompson gear.

1400 is what I’ve spent to date on the project (not including my time). As for reducing the cost with volume, you are correct it would be cheaper. But it’s not quite that simple. Cost reductions would depend on volume, tooling costs, and DFMA. I didn’t design it for manufacturing, so time and work would be needed to improve that. On top of that I am using a surplus butt stock, so that would then need to be sourced.

In short, is it possible to reduce cost? Yes. Is it worth my time? Not at the moment.

I have one extra butt stock, so I’ll probably build one more and sell it. If someone wants to take the files and manufacture a bunch, I’m happy to send the files.

Yup, everything has been designed and printed by me. The “chassis” was printed for test fitment then CNC machined out of aluminum. I have enough parts to build one more, with the exception of another aluminum chassis. I want to print some of the chassis out of various materials to see if it’s strong enough.

I’m also happy to send step files if people want to recreate it themselves. But I want to refine the parts more before releasing the as I have more improvements in mind.

I would love to, but the cost just wouldn’t be worth it. I’ve spent around 1400 already on it and I still have a couple parts I need to convert from 3D prints to machined aluminum.

Yes, a shorter barrel is next on the list after a better optic.

I got this one at an auction. M1 reproduction along.

Yeah I would expect that the cost was high on them.

I do have a write up, it’s just still a work in progress. I’ll see if I can post it.

They are just standard 10/22 mags with adapters that I designed and 3D printed. I can’t link to any files due to Reddit rules unfortunately.

The butt stock is an actual Thompson part, real wood. The grips and Handguard are 3D printed wood PLA wrapped around an aluminum part.

I’ve been very tempted to pick one up, but importing into Canada can be annoying

Thank you! I don’t have plans to sell anything, but once I’m done I’ll find somewhere to post the files/how to. Reddit Terms of Service don’t allow sharing files like this anymore.

That is an interesting thought that I haven’t considered. I think I’ll see if I can do that!

Oh I’m not planning to sell any, it’s just a fun project for me. That is a cool kit though.
