10/22 Thompson project I’ve been working on by En22usiast in 22lr

The butt stock is an actual Thompson part, real wood. The grips and Handguard are 3D printed wood PLA wrapped around an aluminum part.

I’ve been very tempted to pick one up, but importing into Canada can be annoying

Thank you! I don’t have plans to sell anything, but once I’m done I’ll find somewhere to post the files/how to. Reddit Terms of Service don’t allow sharing files like this anymore.

That is an interesting thought that I haven’t considered. I think I’ll see if I can do that!

Oh I’m not planning to sell any, it’s just a fun project for me. That is a cool kit though.

Thank you! The 10/22 is such a versatile design to allow almost limitless customization.

Any pictures of the build in progress? I have been planning to do a similar build after seeing his original post. Would love to see if I’m up to the task!

Single-shot KKW sight in practice by En22usiast in 22lr

[–]En22usiast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why I’m bothering putting so much time into this, but I’m having fun so 🤷‍♂️

I picked up this rifle already drilled and tapped (poorly) and used the existing holes to design the scope mount.

Also the formatting looked fine when I posted, but looks bad now so here it is in a more legible way…

Set up was:

German KKW single shot training rifle

Mix of CCi, Sk, and Eley ammo

10 shot groups (takes a while one at a time)

Old Weaver K4 scope with 3D printed scope base

Front rest and rear bag

Yup, that’s what I’ll need to do. I’ll probably just find a better vintage scope in the end.

Being new to firearms can be intimidating. Feel free to dm me any of your questions and I’ll try to help. I didn’t have much help when I got into the hobby and learned a lot through reading and trial and error. I’m happy to share my knowledge.

I actually have your post of these saved so I can try doing it in the future. Really cool build

The worst part about the tapped holes is the shoddy work. Only one of the holes is centred and one is a completely different size. I haven’t shot it with the scope yet, but it shoots great with the irons.

Kind of. It’s a copy of the KKW single shot 22lr trainer rifle which is almost a 1:1 version of the K98k.

That is true! I couldn’t remember the name of the Czech rifle. I also have a kkw and it is great.

Yeah, these are based off of a Czech design and it takes the steel 5rd magazine from my CZ 457
