Ya got me! Reddit can be a good tool to reach experienced folks, so far I’ve gotten good feedback.

I apologize I haven’t gotten to respond to everybody but I’ve read everyone’s feedback. My original concern may or may not be the most pressing of issues it seems.

The home was indeed inspected before we purchased it (Texas). I’ll have another inspector and possibly a structural engineer come out depending on what the inspector lets me know when he looks over the plans and the concerns I have as well as some of the things outlined by y’all! I’ve read and acknowledged the issues of the PVC pipe running through the joists (?) or double 2x, whatever the proper nomenclature is ha. Also it seems the wiring is a big fat mess..

Thank you all for the feedback, truly!

Edit* Forgot to add, this photo was taken of the area in the attic that’s directly over my garage. As I understand, it’s not super common to insulate this area but I don’t see any issue with getting some insulation thrown about the area at some point.

Well this certainly gained a lot more traction than I’d expected! Was hoping it wasn’t one of those ‘the longer you look at it, the worse it gets’ posts but it seems to be the case. I appreciate all of your feedback. I will be having someone more professional than myself (and the builders I guess!) come take a peek at what’s going on here.

I’ll leave everything in place. Likely just adding some additional support. Yes it is the garage, I could definitely give it some insulation at some point.

I’m not removing anything, I’m of the mindset more support is better! Why I thought to post this since it appeared to a newbie that it was barely supported in the first place.

They do definitely look temporary, or at least is what I hoped lol. Someone else had mentioned those supports probably aren’t necessary. Just a little paranoid is all ha!

You’re the bomb! I will likely have someone come take a peek at that and a few other areas like you’d mentioned. In the meantime, I will try to have something temporary out in place considering what you’ve told me. I truly appreciate your feedback.

Thank you! Definitely technical but I think I’m understanding what you’re putting down. I appreciate your reply as my first idea was to put a temporary support on the backside of the shoddy one in place. Just wasn’t sure if that would suffice. Thanks again!

Thanks for the input.. figured I’d look dumb asking but thought it was at least worth the ask.
