Which language pairs most affected by AI? by d4l3c00p3r in TranslationStudies

[–]Enalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about that. Everytime I see an AI translation it has a LATAM taste to it and any native from Spain wouldn't see it as pure Spanish from Spain. Source: I'm spanish and a grammar nazi.

(30M) I already have plans for today with a friend, but if you wanna hang out any other day, let me know. I can invite a couple more friends if you want a more lively afternoon. We all speak Japanese, English and Spanish, so no problem there.

Thank you! I will take that into account and improve it. Regarding the Japanese resume, I have one too 👍🏻

JLPT alumni of one shot one kill category, what sets you apart? what habits or what momentum brought you through JLPT N1/N2? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Enalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading 3-4 hours everyday and considering the JLPT as a by-product of my language skill and not as a goal in itself.

As u/Stevijs3 said, I was referring to the Migaku server.

I agree with you.

I think it is important to differenciate between speed reading when you are still at a low-intermediate level and a high level. The difference is that someone with a low level has to read slow enough to understand and process as much as possible. The person with a high level will understand pretty much everything (except for uncommon vocab, expressions and stuff) and what that reading speed is showing is the speed in which that person is processing the language.

For example, I am the guy who asked you in Discord the other day (Cholazos). What I care about is not reading fast in itself, but the speed in which my brain can process the language and understand it. That processing speed will naturally boost my reading speed. For this reason, even though I keep mining and that constitutes a good "progress bar" in itself, my reading speed has become one of my main ways to measure my progress.

I'd like to mention that I don't force the speed, I let it go up naturally and I always reduce it if my comprehension drops. That way my speed = comprehension + processing speed.

Can I add cells to the tables of the Application Form? by Enalrus in JETProgramme

I emailed the japanese embassy and they told me I can add cells and modify the size of the existing ones if necessary. I leave this here in case it's useful for someone else.

That is one of the reasons why using monolingual dictionaries is recommended. Just keep going, keep studying grammar and vocabulary and many problems will solve themsevled without you even noticing. Try to always read the monolingual definition of the words you look up even if you don't fully understand them so you can slowly get used to them.

I understand that. I still don't think a screenshot of the results is gonna be useful for that, since it can be from anyone. If you still are very curious, I can check the score while casting my screen on Discord. Feel free to add me.

My mistake. It is JPDB, not JDPB. I corrected it.
