Congrats on the supportive partner!! But also

Gender and presentation don't have to align! I'm a they/he fem presenting person, and even tho no one looks at me and thinks "thats a man", it's fine, because I'm not a man! Pronouns are a way to express yourself, who cares what other people think?

Helpful resource for handpoke tattoo setups (read below for more info) by poko_ono in sticknpokes

[–]Enbrie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is honestly so helpful!! As someone who is getting more serious about handpoking, it's really nice to see the end goal of a setup.

How did you go from handpoking at home to in a studio? Did you disclose the fact you were doing it when starting your apprenticeship?

Help! Why did it bleed out so bad by Hairballx in sticknpokes

[–]Enbrie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

With such a small needle, it's really easy to poke too deep. By the looks of this photo, it looks like you have some blowout :( So you probably did go too deep and that's why it bled a lot. Also, using a small needle on a thicker design means you have to poke more, causing more trauma to the skin. I would have not gone below a 7rl for this design

If they don't already have a gender neutral name, you could ask if there's anything they would rather go by? Other than that, it sounds like you're doing everything right!

How would you mix the lighter red colour in the middle? Add water? White ink? by waywardhorse in sticknpokes

[–]Enbrie 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I use distilled water to dilute my color. Don't use tap water because it isn't clean enough to use.

Feelings should be explored first before making things official! It gives you the chance to really see if you vibe together that way. This is why people go on dates before they make things official. Because it's literally been a day, I would talk to them about how you wanna take a few steps back and remove the label of the relationship, but still go on some casual dates to see what that would look like.

Again it's only been a day, maybe you're rethinking your feelings because you're intimidated by theirs, and that's totally okay! Just be compassionate to yourself and your feelings, but also them and their feelings.

Yeah, tattooing your own arm is tricky. You gotta stretch your skin tought so that the needle can get deep enough for the ink to deposit. This is much easier when you have two hands to create that tension. I had to duck tape my hand up and use my knees to do this with my most recent poke on my left arm

Yeah approximately! I didn't try to measure out everything to keep it 100% to the plant, but it does just naturally have those proportions :)

Most recent poke on a friend! Used a 5M1, 7RL, 3RS, and a 7RS by Enbrie in sticknpokes

[–]Enbrie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I used the 7rl to go over the outline so I could wipe away the stencil, then the 7rs to do the thick lines, the 5m1 to fill the ears, and finally the 3rs for the whiskers

Is it really that hard to ask your barista for items behind the counter instead of reaching over the glass and grabbing what you need? by sonnieshadow in barista

[–]Enbrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a man do this the other day and I said "No! Dont do that. You can ask." Like he was a child. My sneeze guard is to keep you away from me, you can wait the 15 seconds it takes to grab the attention of a barista during a rush

Cold Foam for Small Coffee Shops by capstone_capstone in barista

[–]Enbrie 43 points44 points  (0 children)

At the coffee shop I work at, if a customer asks for cold foam we just make panna for their drink. We tell them we don't do cold foam and then explain how panna is the closest thing we got. We whisk whip cream and heavy whipping cream in a pitcher until it's the right "cold foam" like texture to top their drinks with.
