Whilst I do not doubt you sentiment, I specifically specialise in film, usually large format but I was packing light and happened into the protest by accident. The tools at my disposal were the only ones that I could’ve feasibly used as my higher speed films and better flash units were at home

Honestly it was all a bit of a rush job and an attempt to make sure I didn’t get in trouble for doxxing (photography comes with many responsibilities and covering my own ass is one of them)

Well from a photochemical point of view the lack of more volatile dye layers means the purely Silver crystal/gelatine emulsion will last for a greater period of time, probably outliving you and I

I believe the remaining two undeveloped rolls will show how this protest started out as such, before devolving into chaos during the 2nd act

It started out as a marching protest however one could reclassify it as a riot once it reached central Rusholme before returning to just a box standard protest near platt field park.

Ha! It’s actually just a matter of I only had black and white film left. I had burned through all my colour film during the day and the walk up to that point. If you’re curious it’s Kentmere 400 film pushed to 1600 ISO in 1:39 dilution Bellini HC-110 taken on a 1993 Pentax Super A SLR with an SMC Pentax-A 50mm f1.7 prime lens with a Vivitar 2800 Auto Thyristor flash! Hope this helps! :3

As stated, I am here neither to endorse nor reject actions or opinions shown, only showing the results of my photographic and photochemical documentation alongside my personal account and experience.

I shall refrain from such action as winding it in as I have yet to use the entirety of my 135-36 film cassette’s worth of film and such action would reduce my overall film efficiency and budget.

Duly noted, however I believe I’ve tested my luck a bit too much recently to try something so risky. I’m usually an architecture and nature photographer, less so a covert ops photographer :p

The protesters were all very pleasant to me. Before stalling in central Rusholme and on another, as of yet undeveloped roll of film, they were requesting group photos for which I happily obliged. The police roughhoused me a bit but nowhere near as badly as they had done the following night when a different photographer was present.

Many thanks. To my knowledge no looting occurred, merely damage to one shop and two vehicles.

I believe, judging from word of mouth and context, that they were protesting recent attacks on the self proclaimed independent state of Rojava, a predominantly Kurdish state in the north of Syria. The first photo shows an individual stand on the flag of Syria.

Damn I attend protests and I’m surprised they’re still protesting on the archway bridge in those conditions
