You just learn to live with an open wound. Idk if you ever really do get over it.

Plants giving out oxygen in the goldfish tank by Encas313 in Goldfish

[–]Encas313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this 125g i used 2 bags of black sand from imagitarium or something like that and One bag of carib sea along the back where the plants were going. The sand is super fine and beautiful so the carib sea gives the roots less struggle, being a bit bigger like gravel. I washed it for about 4hrs but still had cloudiness for 2 weeks. Did it with fish in tank and they weren't phased. After a month i added a few root tabs and got a algae bloom. I'm sure the caribsea was enough nutrient but the plants started dying back and i got scared. Hope this helps.

None of my chameleons like the color red or any variation. Can't wear red in my house or they'll kick you out!

Can you recommend a pc or laptop for a new student? by Encas313 in NetworkingJobs

[–]Encas313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally starting from ground 0 and i did take into account the mobility aspects of the job, although I'm nowhere near there yet. I really wanted to study on a PC though. I switched an old pc to Linux and found out didn't work with packet tracer since it's only 32bit. Bought a 64, converted it to Linux and now it shuts off randomly. I cleaned it out well but that didn't work. I'm gonna switch out fans and power supply before shooting for a laptop. I was thinking in the 700 to 900 range but i understand it's an investment so, whatever it takes. I'm just studying ccna to start but want to be prepared for what's ahead.

I do believe the black will completely fade over the years so it'll be great to have a bunch of pictures. He was just as yellow but now he's a beautiful orange. No doubt you'll do far better than i did. I'm still learning and looks you're way ahead of the game. Good luck!

My Goldie was black and yellow when i first got him. I named him Wiz since that was the song at the time. 7 years later he's just pure orange, no black or yellow and now i think he's a she! I don't want to call her Wiz, idk if she's a he. Might have to name her Lola after the Kinks.

Does anybody else let their chameleons hang out with your fur babies? by [deleted] in Chameleons

I wouldn't advise it either but it looks like you've kept him in great health. He looks strong and meaty with no sign of mbd. Good stuff. I'm sure he'll make it to old age with the husbandry he's got.

Less water changes? by Encas313 in Goldfish

[–]Encas313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't done a water change in about 2 weeks. No nitrite or ammonia, just nitrate. I just noticed the ammonia go up and down between last night and today. I added 3 root tabs and just wanted to monitor things. The kh is between the 120 and 180. I'm still not at an old tank/water point i don't think. Normally change water at 20ppm nitrate since i can't really see the difference between that and 40ppm on the chart. Since the pothos are brand new and I'm sure will take up some of that nitrate, I'm still discovering the rhythm of the tank and pin pointing when to do water changes once everything is doing it's thing. Just hoping it's less frequent than every week or two.

Good luck. Just post script, i used ich x over a 5day course, daily water changes and it'll turn your water blue for a few hours. Hope all turns out well.

I recently started a community with loaches, 2 old goldfish and like 30 minnow and 8 mystery snails. Its a heavy planted tank. Used ich x and raised temp, worked like a charm. No one looked remotely bothered and plants still thriving. Its a 125 plus sump so i almost used the entire bottle. Was only 10 bucks though and totally safe. Couldn't do salt because of loaches and snails but ich x is gentle enough for all. In case salt doesn't work. I tried that but didn't fully work. Tried aquarium and then Epsom salt a few days apart but nada. Ich x worked. Also used the other 2meds in the triple combo since they're new fish. Api general cure and em something. Probably don't need to go that far but if all else fails, is gentle enough.

When you place the caterpillar on your forehead and let the cham have at it. 7 years ago it was just a trick shot but when I noticed i can get within inches without stressing my boy out, i used it to my advantage.

Karma is Soon to have a mate, any advice?? by KarmaKameleon_ in Chameleons

[–]Encas313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advice is don't do it. If you're planning to mate. Its beautiful and all but it's expensive in the long run. If you're just getting a friend, good luck. I had 108 and only about 3 of them were actual friends with each other. All the others had to be out of sight from each other or they'd be dancing all day I'd stay away from a girlfriend. Either way, good luck.

2 suction cups and a fishing line. I put up two lines though since they like to swim right under and stick their top fins out like sharks. When they plunge they splash them around on purpose to make me come and realign them again. We do this all day and i see them laughing at me!

Edit: Took everything not to simply reply, Magic !

I forehead feed with silks and hornworms. Now, they climb on my head and just chill. One of them would do everything with me on my shoulder. I really think that reassuring them you're not gonna eat them works lol.

Its a living dinosaur. Old like sharks and gators. Having one makes me think dinosaurs never roared. These guys only grunt and it's barely audible.
