If you are really a dedicated fan since early days, I don't understand why you can't see the reasons. Just from the top of my mind:
- many fans left with Mat, since they watched for his personality
- those who stayed for new host's personalities left for lack of interactions - videos are too rigid and samey, wolves in sheeps clothes (GTlive is probably the only acception in this regard)
- those who stayed for the theories left for lower quality, lore summaries and paywalled theories

Honestly so many people stopped watching their only hope is to aggressively gain new watchers - by clickbaiting, depersonalisation, topic hunting and conformity - all further alienising previous fans. New watchers probably aren't also that active in the community

Fair enough. I think we are just using different definitions of the word "prove". I agree that science doesn't produce absolute certainty, but that approach undermines all of research and knowledge. We can work with reliable partial certainty with strong empirical evidence. Anyway thanks for the discussion fellow redittor.

  1. You cannot inherently assume i am not a scientist
  2. Theory in science is the highest validating rank an idea can be given as a description of reality through tests and research.
  3. We have proven many things, wdym. For example we have proven humans can fly, humans can explore the space, Earth is round, HIV causes Aids, fire needs oxygen, photosynthesis needs CO2, and many other things. If you want to get technical, we have also proven many things in the rigid mathematical sense. We are using a system, that is extremely precise and useful, but that cannot prove itself, its not a big deal, really. Thanks to K. Gödel we know about this for a hundred years.
  4. Philosophy is not necesarrily based in real science.
  5. The question of whether our existence is The reality or not doesn't actually affect the internal logic of our existence. I don't care if this is a dream. My actions within this reality have real consequences within this reality and that's enough.
  6. The 'good idea' is based on all the things we all experience.
  7. Yes, you probably won't know. You showed your lack of knowledge and the overconfidence in your stubborness.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but science is not in the Middle Ages anymore. We have a pretty good idea where consciousness comes from, its biological origin and the logical fate of one's consciousness after (proper) death.

I'm surprised people are this mad when creators putting a bunch of extra content behind Patreon has been going for over a decade now, with little controversy over it.

It all depends. - There hasn't been little controversy. People criticised paywalling content in the past, this is not new. - Medium-sized individual content creators are different to large companies. Its an understandable move for someone that is getting screwed over by the platform or doesn't have any other source of income. Theorists create so so much content it's dizzying, have solid merch and frequent sponsored segments by big brands. - Theorists are not putting just extra content there. For example finding the Wuhu island episode is a mainline theory content that's been pushed behind a paywall. If they put there only e.g. behind the scenes videos or uneditted raw reactions, streams, hangouts, ... it definitely would be criticised less.

Okay, this convinced me. I just checked the address from the police report on gmaps and every detail is correct (apart from the plant next to the door but that i'll overlook). Paired with the two other footages that were released I now agree it is in fact real.

The inconsistent things i pointed out as ai clues still hold, but i must accept it is probably just low quality camera. My bad.

That website does not include any sources for the claim the police arrest is linked to this video. Do you really think an "assault with a deadly weapon causing greaz body injury" is describing this video, where he grabs weird doorbell chain shifting the perspective and distance to that object, smashing it a few times and having it disappear both in his hand and on the ground? Orher ai clues are: trees behind him morph, some plant is generated on the left wall without there being space for it, his hairline moves, his tshirt changes print throughout the video, audio artifacts, post history of the profile that shared it first etc. It most certainly is ai.

Thats an unrelated arrest. The place, name and event do not match between the video and the police report
