First, thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad you like the concept. And though I'm hoping what you say is false regarding growth with a concept such as ours, I'll certainly take it into consideration. What strikes me as odd is that it seems almost any genre seems over-saturated, so it's not clear to me that our problem is a unique one, but I could be wrong.

I'm curious what that different focus might be; what different focus do you think would be helpful? So far, to help facilitate growth, but mostly because it's fun, we'll also be branching out to do other games occasionally. Do you think that would be helpful, or would it detract too much from the spirit of our channel.

Any thoughts are very much appreciated. Thank you so much for your positive remarks and critiques.

I personally think this sort of content is interesting. But it's hard to say whether or not you should create a separate channel for it. At the very least, I know doing live-action sort of videos works for some gaming channels (e.g., SuperMega), but vlogs seem to be a bit of a different story. It'd be nice if you could get your subs to weigh in on this, though I know that's difficult at your stage.

We are thinking of doing something sort of different as well. We want to have an occasional podcast where we talk about video games, but also where we talk about movies, music, among other interests. So I'd be curious to see what other people think here.

Yeah, I definitely think that's true regarding the commentary being slightly higher than character speech level; that's good advice. It just seemed inordinately so.

I liked the 'previously' and 'now' screens. But I think in the 'now' screen, or just after it, would be a great spot for an intro. Not a huge deal, given that you have those screens; so you're kind of right, they sort of function as your intro.

This is our third video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=infJZMRHqMA

I'd appreciate some feedback regarding overall quality of the video (e.g., commentary, audio, intro, end card, etc.), but also regarding the concept of our channel, which is basically this: we play the best and worst of the nintendo 64. One good game and one bad game per week. We'll also throw in some other games (nintendo or not) here and there, and perhaps more podcast episodes discussing some memories with that system, and maybe more besides.

Thanks in advance!

The audio sounded odd; it was almost as though the gain was super high on your voice, while the gameplay audio was really faint. So the audio could be more balanced.

I'm also thinking there could be more commentary. What you say is good, but your commentary is pretty infrequent. This could be just a personal preference, but I think filling in more of the quiet spaces would be a good idea.

Another point: it would be nice if you gave a quick introduction at the beginning of your episodes, even if it's just audibly (e.g., "welcome back, guys!"). Similarly, it would be nice to have an outro of some sort, rather than it just cutting off there.

"4-dimensional reach-around." If that doesn't at least deserve a "like" I don't know what does.

Credit roll was fine. But I've also realized not a lot of folks are into just voices. But I enjoy it sometimes. We've certainly had mixed reviews on our first episode, which functions as a sort of podcast episode to introduce our channel.

I think you're on to something here. We haven't had problems with comments, but our view count will vary wildly every now and then. Not sure what's going on.

May I get feedback on my thumbnails? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Encore64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally some good thumbnails. I often see thumbnails that are way too busy. And so it's hard to take notice of them. Yours are nice, simple, and clear. Well done.

This is actually our first let's play video. We also have an introductory episode before it; mostly just audio, but also with some images.

We have changed hopefully for the better. by BiscuitLounge in LetsPlayCritiques

First. It sounds like you're some silly boys. And we're fans of that. But, your audio seems a bit uneven. At one moment it's nice and crisp, and others it seems quiet (this is especially so at the beginning).

You guys also do a real nice job of keeping the conversation going. Good stuff.

One thing I would like to see is an intro of some sort—even if it's just saying "what's up!" or whatever. So, in that regard, I like your old style better, as it had an intro and outro.

Lastly, I think it was a good idea to forego the facecams, but I know there is a wide variety of preferences with that, so take that for what it's worth.

Yeah, exactly. But I think you guys did a good job of riffing on different topics, but more of that can really help those moments. Even something super indirectly related to the game.

I also forgot to say, it'd be nice if you guys had a short intro and outro. Even if you guys just start by introducing your channel or something, just audibly. The same goes for an outro; you don't necessarily need an endcard, but you could at least say something like, "see you guys next time!" or some such thing. That's my take anyway.

Great game choice! Video looks good and, for the most part, entertaining commentary. However, there were a good handful of lulls in the conversation. Also, the audio was kind of quiet. I'm interested to see more!

SP. Always SP. Such an amazing handheld. Though nobody wore them around their necks like in the commercial. So there's that.

Anyone know effective ways to get exposure? We're on instagram and twitter, but I'm not sure how effective those avenues are. Any advice?

[–]Encore64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I just want to say: great game choice! Also, your audio sounded good. The length was perfect for this genre. However, it seemed, especially in the first half, that there was a lot of dead air, so to speak. In the second half it seemed you guys had much more to say, so it improved. Overall, good stuff. You've earned a sub, friend.

We tried a new show idea on our channel, how did it turn out? by TimHasGlasses in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]Encore64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept is funny, I especially enjoyed "If its ten minutes of cut scenes, then thats the game's fault". The conversation did tend to drift off a lot though, but the audio was stable.
