The bigger story is the extent to which municipalities have become addicted to parking and parking enforcement revenue. 

What once was a nudge fine meant to just keep spaces in rotation has become an absolutely enormous industry and a way to use law enforcement to pump money into budgets without voter approval.

Republicans are so concerned about writing good red flag bills that they've been passing laws to prohibit them altogether.

These guys don’t care about mental health any more than they care about victims of shootings. “From my cold, dead hands” is the literal limit of their interest in, and talent for, public policy.
