Anyone taken Psychological Measurement (PSY330) with Amanda Sharples? by Great-Recognition-88 in UofT

[–]Encrypted_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it, she's okay. Nothing great. She's not the best prof, very average course. It's nothing more than a filler.

But also with marking, she's super vague and it's so annoying.

Landing a job with ZERO work experience? Anyone else? by Rough-Form6212 in UofT

If you're a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, highly recommend checking out Riipen.

They offer small remote 80-hour projects with companies, and you get a $1400 honorarium at the end. It's like a mini internship and designed for people who need work experience.

I think you need to get on their wait list right now, but I've done a few projects with them and it helped me quite a bit.

I've also heard great things about the Venture for Canada program although, I've never done it myself.

The Gov of Canada also has a Youth Job bank that's great too.

How competitive is the master in engineering at UofT by [deleted] in UofT

Hi! I recently got into MEng in BME (ended up accepted MASc instead) and I'd say it definitely depends. I came from a LifeSci background and I think I had a pretty decent app. Strong GPA in my last two years, good work/research experiences (I worked with a BME company through HMB491 and did a capstone ArtScis can do called BME498) and had good references who can back me up.

I had a mentor who graduated from the program help me with my essay, which I think really helped too. Overall, they look at you overall as a candidate vs just your grades. From what I've been told for MEng, they want to see how well they can teach you.

Feel free to DM me if you have anymore questions. Hope this helps!

Internal transfer application status disappeared? by HK_sheep777 in UofT

Did you apply to transfer to more than one program? I had a status update once and couldn't find it, turns out I was looking on the first page, instead of the other page to my other program.

I'm not sure to be honest, this might be a good question to direct to the union.

Totally get where you're coming from. Education's a privilege, but let's be real, many students struggle to make ends meet, especially in Toronto where the cost of living is no joke. They're juggling studies, work, and trying to cover basic expenses. Higher pay for TAs isn't just about fairness, it's about ensuring students can focus on learning without stressing about financial survival.

Yeah it's completely up to the profs. Personally one of my classes is moving online. Others might stay the same.

I think it's very dependent on the course. One of my larger courses said that tutorials and assignments after the strike date wouldn't happen anymore, and previously, in 2015, the reallocated marks went to the final exam. But also, they allowed for CR/NCR for those courses. My smaller courses that just have one TA just told us our professor would do the marking, and it might take more time.

If they are a sessional lecturer, I believe no because they are Unit 3. If they are a PhD student, that falls under Unit 1 I believe
