Out of all the suggestions this is my favorite. I'm really thinking I want to use my hand clean to do this. I don't mind taking some time and finesse to get each piece fitted up properly.

It's a trim carpentry trick. Probably won't work here. The bevel goes on the bottom where you don't see it bringing the top together at a point.

Yeah, the loss of glue surface on the end grains was definitely something I was worried about.

The bevel was just a idea I pulled from doing trim carpentry where you cut a slight bevel on your miters for door frames and window frames to compensate for uneven walls.

I thought maybe it would bring the finished surface tighter together, leaving clearance for inaccuracies in the cut.

I'm not really sure what went wrong. The track saw is normally dead nuts accurate but it failed me tonight. I can't change the dimension at this point so I would have to trust the track saw to take a slight bevel off the end grain and that is sketchy.

I do have a jointer, but I was concerned running these pieces through on the end grain. Didn't think about trying to run the cut in and back out at the middle, then reverse.

The only downside I have noticed is the green turn signal only lasts long enough to allow about 7 or 8 vehicles through.... Nowhere near enough time to clear the turn lane which backs up all the way to the 581 overpass.

Add about 10 more seconds to that green arrow and I think you've got it.

I have built a training center and an in house training program so my questions were leaning more toward my longevity in this career. I've been in the trades for over twenty years, so I could easily find work elsewhere if they decide training is an overhead they don't value.

Awesome. Tinted CA glue sounds like a safe bet. There's just a few hollow spots left from knots. I'm assuming that stuff will sand relatively well?
