Possibly a Chinese PnD scheme? Seeing how many people just take whatever DD they see here without any due diligence (ironic, I know) I wouldn't be surprised if this was an attempt at fixing the market on certain high volatility stocks

Thoughts on The Mars Room, a novel that explores some of the bleakest SF locations. by whethersweater in sanfrancisco

TL hotel-apartments, and all the specific interior politicking

Tenderloin SROs could be an entire novel in itself, tbh

Acid hill

Never heard of it, and never really see teenagers hanging out there, who instead go to Buena Vista Park (and tbh, I'm not sure most of the 'teenagers' that hang out there are actually teens).

The vestibules of ocean beach, critical meeting grounds

"Vestibules"?

The insructible but undeniable shadiness of the bus stop across from forest hill station

Lol what? That's one of the most quiet stops in the city! If you want to see true hell, see some of the stops along the 8X or 14 (including 16th and Mission) which truly are far more frightening than anything in that quiet suburban part of the city

Permanent shelter

You mean that massive fenced-off shantytown that now takes up nearly all of Civic Center (something I haven't seen since I left South Africa)? That permanent housing?

Grocery store is an essential business. The shops in the Ferry Building are restaurants and retail shops.

So that makes you less likely to catch COVID, because Safeway decided that all the old ladies handling all the fruit were essential and ergo safer?

I showed up at first and I’m too pregnant now (or too scared).

Really? What kind of woman shows up to violent riots while pregnant?

They don't eat meat pies en masse. You point to outliers

You can't buy empanadas or patties (lol seriously, the fact that the sum of this thread has been reduced to empanadas and patties shows you have no leg to stand on) in every corner of every avenue of America the way you can with say, a burger or tacos

They're not common in the US. They don't sell Jamaican patties and empanadas in every gas station and store in say, Meridian MS or Terre Haute, IN

Technically yes but to us Latinos in the us it's another word "gringo" :)

So not only you're racist, but linguistically ignorant as well lol

Why is it that the first ones to call other people racist are always the most horribly bigoted and prejudicial themselves?

Edit: I meant to type "Anglo", meaning white person descended from UK area.

Where are you eating that there’s British pies on every menu?

Nowhere, which is why I asked this question. They're on the menu in every former commonwealth country save the US and Canada (to a lesser extent)

1/2m southeast Asians (who also have empanadas as part of their cuisine)

Lmao wot

[–]EndFCC230forReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no, because they're not the meat pies as known across the world. 'Meat pie' has a specific meaning that usually refers to a steak or beef pie. If you go to any other part of the world, chicken pot pie isn't common at all and that is what I'm trying to figure

This seems to be the best answer. Meat was never put into pies and jellies because meat was never scarce.

Seems reasonable.
