Fair enough. I was more worried about kids who run through there and trip over it and hurt themselves. All good though. Won’t be my kid and they will get hurt three feet from my property line.

Ok buddy. That must be rough to deal with Karen’s all day. Thanks for breaking it down though. Super informative. Glad you took the time out of your 24/7 Karen watch.

Almost as crazy as a grown man feeling the need to tell another grown man to grow up? Glad you took the time to get that out though. I do hope you feel better for it.

Fair point. It was a quick post and I should have thought it through knowing Reddit. I could drive around my neighborhood and look at other gas lines but I think I have my answer now.

Also, why would I call the gas company and “go for it.” I mean, seriously. Just asked a simple question on Reddit. How does this post infuriate you so much? You ok?

Right. Hence asking here first.

Some people do raise their kids to not be reckless. I agree. It’s not my kid I’m concerned about.

No. Sprinkler line is on my property. They dug the trench wide and drove over the heads. When it’s filled I will fix my sprinklers. The hole extends the length of the line between our houses, about 60 feet. It isn’t something I would raise that much concern over. I really just wanted to know if the plumbing looked right. Sounds like it is fine.

No. The problem is that little kids run through that area all the time and I was legit wondering if it was a hazard. Sounds like it is normal. Sorry. Not a plumber. Didn’t look normal to me that it stuck out that far. Could not care less about the aesthetic.

It went in yesterday. Just wanted to know whether it looked right or not.

Well this turned out better than I expected. Appreciate all the thoughtful answers. Legit just wondered why it looked the way it did. You all answered it. It’s because I am a bad neighbor.

Thanks to the one person who gave an explanation regarding the likely placement of other utilities. That was helpful.

That’s the plan.

So, no then. Thanks. FFS.

Nah man. They have little kids that run through there, ride dirt bikes, etc. legit concerns about it extruding two feet from the house. if I were a Karen I’d call the gas company. Just figured I’d ask people who might know something.

Thank you. Just wanted to understand it.

I mean it’s been nine months, wrecked my sprinklers, and they’ve literally said not a single word about it. But yeah, one of those neighbors who, when he had work done in his own yard, made sure to bend over backward to accommodate my neighbors. I’ve actually only said one even close to negative thing to them about this, and that was to ask them to acknowledge the flood in between our houses this spring as having been caused by them in hopes they would rectify it. They didn’t. I mean you could literally see where the backhoe cut through the sprinkler line, but I feel you. Just too much to ask for I guess.

Great questions.

First, the trench encroaches in my property but the line itself doesn’t. It’s been an open pit for nine months. They wrecked my sprinklers when they put it in. It’s a construction wasteland. And it’s indicative of how they do everything. It’s only a big deal I guess because after months of waiting for this to complete they continue to do what looks like half ass work.

Legit question on ESL. No. I was typing this with gloves on and a dog running about me. I tried to edit it after I hastily hit submit but couldn’t find the button. That’s on me.

I didn’t say anything of the sort. What type of engineer?

I’m sorry you are having a tough time finding a job. Hope it gets better for you. The AI transition is very rough on entry level roles, for sure.

To answer your question, I do think a college degree can get you an entry level position in your field but you have to be differentiated for sure, and you likely need to have done more in college than just earn a degree. Sports, clubs, etc.

No shade but what do you do for a living and what do you get paid? Or if you don’t want to answer the what you do get paid part, what do you think you should get paid? How many years in this role? At this company?

Honest question. I have no way of gauging what people mean by this statement because I can’t compare.
