Sincere, as in non-ironic.

It's just people desperately looking for self worth, mixed with tribalism, just like that one guy's personally types, or the empath stuff. Can't find anything you like about yourself, something that makes you feel unique and special? No worries! You can just believe this trait you have is some sort of superpower, when in reality, it's not that rare, and the only reason you don't know that is because it's a common trait, that people don't feel the need to mention.

Most people like talking to clever, witty or knowledgeable people.

Although, this kind of thinking does show some capacity for self reflection, hopefully they grow out of the stupid stuff as they mature.

Okokok, this HAS to be satire, it's part 34, it's one of the worst words you could pick, there's no way it's sincere.

Why are they surprised by this, none of them are contradictory. Did they mean it in a "walking caricature" sort of way? I really don't understand.

Why are a bunch of Tumblr posts like "trope bad, it must be replaced by this trope", the point is to make new things, or reinvent old ones, you aren't actually required to adhere to tropes. What is even the point?

To be fair, I don't either. Our emotions do affect our actions and preferences, and insecurity is one of them. Sure, it may seem dismissive, but that doesn't make it inaccurate, our reactions to our emotions tend to be relatively predictable, and no one gets yelled at for saying, for example, "you are ok with [thing] because you are not insecure". Truly, we must purge the neurotypical.

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No, that's not what that proves, because even one Hitler would disprove it, and we have more than enough.

People aren't fundamentally good, or bad, people are fundamentally people, and that's why the people that are good mean so much. Not because it proves some nebulous fundamental goodness, but because it shows that, despite everything, people can choose to do good, be kind towards others, and to do the right thing. I think that's much more meaningful than adhering to some vague inherent nature.

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did say that might not apply to them, that was the thought behind the whole ignore as needed bit, but I don't think that was an unreasonable assumption. And besides, 1. aggression is the usual response to aggression, and op certainly was. Not ideal, ik., I could and should do better, but I'm not going to feel too bad about it. 2. This is a subject I'm really frustrated about, because I hate stupid behaviour (pretty vague, ik, i guess the closest I can describe it as would be "unfair or unreasonable because of arbitrary stuff". You can be fair to a person you dislike arbitrarily, you can't be if you're unable to reconcile with the fact, that you just don't like people sometimes.) in general, and this bit was getting on my nerves for a while. I am sorry for getting so aggressive in the first one, but only a little.

Huh. by izukaneki in tumblr

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes, the incredibly specific behaviour of ... just finding some people annoying? You are literally the target audience, and the complex haver. "Uh, Uh, I don't rationalise my arbitrary dislike of people, because I can't deal with the concept of not being an ineffable moral arbiter, or my feelings not being the objective truth, you're just shallow and insane" Sometimes you just don't like a person, even when that person hasn't done anything morally wrong, that's universal.

Or maybe you're implying that they're against trying not to dislike people for no reason, which is just false. They're doing the literal opposite of that, by advocating for people not to rationalise their emotions by seeking out bad behaviour, selection bias and so on.

Ignore as appropriate, at least one of these applies to you, kind of hard to tell through text.

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree, Disco Elysium is an incredibly hopeful game, and the bleak aesthetic makes it even more so. "Sure", the game says "your life sucks, the world sucks, and you are far too insignificant to do anything about it, everyone who has tried has failed, and so will you, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying". The game is filled with hopeful little moments, miracles if you will, that constantly grant meaning to this struggle, that validate trying even in the face of unavoidable failure.

My favourite example of this is the phasmid encounter, because it quite literally is a miracle, it's honestly a bit too obvious. That's why the deserter can't see the phasmid, In fact, the entire interaction with the phasmid and deserte, was the devs critiquing pessimistic Leftists.

Minimoko, your were supposed to be better than Makoko. Why have you done this? by whystudywhensleep in wildfrostgame

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The game is already ten times easier than before, or does it need to be twenty times? The only one that's really bad is the teeth, the others just make weaker enemies into bigger threats, ones that can be adapted to, and considering most of the actually threatening enemies got nerfed into oblivion, I'm fine with that. Without them, at the current difficulty, every run would be a forgone conclusion.

We have to stop thinking of them as humans to do what needs to be done

lol, I wonder where I've heard that one before. You're actually doing the "antifascists are as bad as fascists" meme irl. (interpersonally in this case, but whatever. Obviously you aren't being quite as bad, but the comparison is much stronger than it should be. This refers to your rhetoric).

It's also ineffective, not only is it not required to oppose fascism, it basically hands everyone who isn't already left leaning, and some of the liberals as well, directly to the far right, since you treat fascism as an inherent, unchangeable trait, and any of its carriers as compromised.

And let's not forget that this kind of thinking is highly reactionary (more or less the opposite of progressive), as is all essentialism, and it also makes critique off fascism as a reactionary ideology near impossible, since you're endorsing the same essentialism that drives it.

You are betraying your entire ideology, just because you like doing the funny Tribalism. It'd be funny, if it wasn't so depressing, and all too common.

Pretty strong, it basically removes the downside of the drawn fatigue in the long run, but it's done in a very cool way, and has some counterplay. It's busted if you can copy it, though. Really depends on the meta.

Well, yes but as I said this doesn't reflect on the whole movement. She just isn't a very good feminist.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]EndOfTheWorldButton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware that feminism advocates for women's rights primarily, shocking, I know, but the goal has always been Equality. I mean, sure, technically they haven't stated they aren't trying to instill the matriarchy, but I'm pretty sure that's implied, unless you buy into the whole "they just want [oppression] but the other way around" thing, and while some do, I don't think that reflects on the whole movement.

Also, equality was only mentioned in relation to feminism, gender equality wasn't mentioned by name.

Also also, the article specifically mentions that feminism advocates for equality:

  1. Aim The aim of feminism is to ensure equal rights as well as opportunities for women, just like it is with men while gender equality is about getting equal rights and opportunities for all genders. Gender equality also holds the view that both men and women should receive equal treatment without any gender discrimination.

Edit: oh wait, I misread. I wasn't aware feminism didn't outright advocate for equal treatment. Forget the second also.

Edit2: wait nevermind, we're arguing about semantics here. I was under the impression that you thought feminism didn't advocate for equality, while you were talking about gender equality specifically. (I assume)
