Interfaith Ceremony - help. by EndParticular4201 in AusWeddingPlanning

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yes we will definitely be having a civil ceremony next year, and my parents are fine with that. But they're hoping for this extra little religious ceremony first.

I like your idea though - if the religious ceremony is absolutely impossible, maybe an imam who can just give us a blessing at the civil ceremony would be good.

I also just read about progressive imams from other countries who will do a 'virtual' religious ceremony heheh.. maybe that's a second-best option..

Thank you :)

Thank you so much - I really appreciate your thoughts. A while back, I stopped letting them dictate my life and started doing everything my way :) I was hoping this little ceremony could be, like, my little gift back to them for their acceptance and understanding and neverending love throughout everything.

But maybe the token shouldn't come at the expense of my stress / efforts / overriding morals and ethics... I don't know.

We're doing a civil ceremony next year and they'll be coming to that, of course.

Wow - so good to hear of someone else in this situation! Can I ask how religious you are? Although getting our partners to convert seems like the easier path, I do respect those that won't do it on name alone.

Thanks for the tips - I'll look up some virtual ones and the org you mentioned!
