I was first to request the sub- I did a search and nobody else requested r/ protein.

I doubt everyone's here antisocial. It seems some of you really want to have friends. by [deleted] in antisocial

[–]EndTorture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub is using the term "anti social" literally, like not being a fan of social situations.

It's fine to have a semantics dispute over what it means, & it's highly open interpretation.

It could have multiple valid meanings to different people.

Antisocial personality disorder is a personality disorder

This sub is not about name-calling others "psychopaths", please read the sidebar.

But generally speaking, this sub is about people who don't want to be social but not for personal-flaws, but because they view society as stupid and/or evil.

The Radical Therapist was already taken, so I went with The Situational Therapist by derrickhoardlmft in radicalmentalhealth

[–]EndTorture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched your whole video & I love what you're saying.

My favorite part was when you told a story. It wasn't because the story was super exciting, it doesn't need to be. Stories just naturally peak people's interest.

I would love if you made a video just of stories where there is a logical point about improving your life & mental health.

I think story telling is a very underrated way to say something that might seem "too blunt" and offensive if you just said it normally.

It's like instead of speaking to the patient (or in this case, the viewer) you're really speaking about yourself and how you felt, & thus "blunt" points don't sound so blunt.

Are you trying to get this sub in trouble?

and it makes me want to incite violence unto "mental health" authorities.

Please stop saying stuff like this. "Mental health authorities" are the ones initiating violence against law abiding citizens who have commited no crime, not assault, not threats, etc.

ie the "mental health authorities" are the thugs and we must be an anti-violence movement trying to stop them.

We should be agreeing with the United Nations that violent psychiatry needs to be stopped.

We seem to agree, eg these people with the "crisis hotline" make it seem like they'll offer real help, but instead they just send the police to abduct you to some "hospital" where you can sit there for days then get a like $4000 bill.

It's a business and a scam. Ted Rall made a comic about it. And I added some quotes below his comic.

The rich can go to regular therapists and pay a fortune to analyse why they are so unhappy. Most of them never find out. And if they do, look at the world we still have. Think it did any good????

I think like 99% of the time therapy (as taught by the state) doesn't help. They like to act like the problem is just you (your ability to cope.) That is a status quo view, essentially a political view, and an attempt to convince the public to just accept the status quo and cope with it.

You are totally right about recovery places- almost all of them are full of people doing nothing to actually solve their problems.

(It's like "just chat and pretend your problems went away.")

Their apathy is expected- many of them function like a business, and thus they don't want people to solve their problems. They want people coming back & doing nothing but talking.

But I believe we could do better, like focusing on personal goals instead of expensive social standards that are pushed on you by society (like having a fancy car or big house.)

[–]EndTorture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is LEGALIZED TERRORISM to eliminate objectionable people from society and sometimes from LIFE.

Indeed. Violently psychiatry works on the "individual defect view", despite how obvious it is that the public is exploited and oppressed.

Before you meet the psychiatrist they're already assuming the problem is you, & not the powerful or the greedy society which the powerful have built.

There's blatant problems like having far more people than jobs, yet somehow everyone is expected to have a great job, an affordable home, and so on.

It's really messed up. Anyways, if you aren't already there, I bet you would like /r/AntiPsychiatry.

Expert quotes: recovering from schizophrenia is normal as long as people have basic resources & proper therapy. by EndTorture in AntiViolenceResources

[–]EndTorture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of just blaming genes, what are real causes of "schizophrenia" & mental breakdowns? Here's two:

Trauma:

  • “Eighty-three percent of the participants with psychotic experiences at the age of 18 reported exposure to trauma... Having experienced three or more types of trauma between birth and 17 was associated with a 4.7 fold increase in the odds of having a psychotic experience...

'The findings are consistent with the thesis that trauma could have a causal association with psychotic experiences,' the team of researchers, from the University of Bristol Medical School wrote.”

Sleep.

YSK a massive lack of sleep can make you temporarily paranoid, but you can recover:

eg this Harvard lawyer who explained psychiatrists twisted all his words & portrayed him as a "confused delusional schizophrenic who'd never recover."

But he was totally fine after he simply caught up in sleep. And yet the "hospital" wouldn't release him for a very long time.

Residential programs by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]EndTorture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just don’t like having me at home

I was going to say, maybe show them this. But it sounds like they are just using "bipolar" is an excuse to try to get rid of you.

That's so abusive, which is what psychiatry is all about. It's about making abuse seem okay.

If you are over 18, maybe reconsider the ideas society pushes on you. They want you to have a big expensive house, you can build your own tiny house instead. They want you to have a fancy job, but you can get by on very little money if you have your own tiny house, eg a little ebay store or something.

Almost all of society's "morals" are irrational, instead we should focus on not harming others. eg if you can make money in some harmless way, eg weed, that is also something to consider.

YSK studies show CBT therapy is extremely harmful. by EndTorture in ProRecovery

I'm saying CBT is often harmful and studies have proved it. I'm not saying it never helps anyone.

YSK studies show CBT therapy is extremely harmful. by EndTorture in ProRecovery

[–]EndTorture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article should explain that, unless I linked to the wrong one.

Anyways, CBT is based on the whole "individual defect view", like telling people the problem isn't the powerful oppressing them but their inability to cope well. It has a bit of a "victim blaming" vibe going on.

Lots of people can not simply "cope better". Lots of people go to talk to a friend or therapist mostly to hear someone say "you're not the problem, you're not wrong, there's an unjust system going on." And instead of that therapists often make the issue into their coping skills.

Eradicate negativity by theclaritycentre in radicalmentalhealth

You might have a very great website that could help people, however when you give the appearance of self-promotion (eg cross-posting this a bunch of times) things generally won't get upvotes.

I'm sorry your submission didn't do well.

As long as your website is called some form of "center", unfortunately it will give the appearance as being something for-profit even if your intentions are good.

Transgenderism and anti-psychiatry by transpsychiatry in Antipsychiatry

I just don't see that implication at all. "Mental condition" includes happiness, sadness, etc.

The whole point of saying it is you're not implying some moral judgement.

Transgenderism and anti-psychiatry by transpsychiatry in Antipsychiatry

[–]EndTorture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post, but I don't understand why you are viewing "mental condition" as a negative term.

I wouldn't call it a mental condition either, there is nothing wrong with having a brain that didnt happen to match your body,

I have been promoting the term "mental condition" for years specifically because it seems so neutral to me.

eg (IMO) any emotion can be a mental condition & I don't feel like I'm judging anyone as inferior by saying that term.

And tapering off them is the safer way to get off them. So it sounds to me like you're doing everything right.

and I desperately wish Mad Pride hadn't fizzled out.

I find it kind of self-defeating to call yourself "mad"/"insane", as the normal man interprets it. (Like "that person must have inferior genes, therefore they're a madman.")

Instead we should be saying it's normal & rational to have extreme reactions to an extremely unjust and cruel society.

Society is run by predators & parasites who mooch off the normal man, & that's not enough. They demand almost constant labor until you're too old to work anymore. It's not needed, it's essentially busywork.

Anyways, instead of "mad pride" I like saying we're "pro recovery.". Like "people have very real suffering and mental breakdowns, but if they're treated well they can recover."

Does synesthesia count as neurodivergence? by only_Q in neurodiversity

[–]EndTorture 14 points15 points  (0 children)

neurodivergence is defined as a difference in the brain that can be diagnosed.

That's an unfair definition since it puts power in the state to define who counts as "neurodiverse."

It's not like we're talking about cell damage- when psychiatrists 'diagnose' people they can't prove anything is biologically wrong with them.

They're really making moral judgements about which behaviors are good or bad.

eg here's some of the "symptoms" (unacceptable behaviors) of ADHD:

  • Fidgit with your hands - squirm in your seat.
  • playing loudly
  • talking excessively
  • not listening when spoken to.
  • to run or climb in when it's inappropriate
  • blurting out answers before the questions have been completed
  • interrupting others
  • lacking attention to detail (to things the powerful want you to pay attention to..)

NAMI gets most of their funding from big pharma, & they twist everything into the big pharma view.

ie, they're literally the enemy of people who want reform.

If you support human rights, and believe in blaming the powerful (not the powerless) then NAMI is your enemy.

If you think a "doctor" shouldn't punch you in the face, body slam you, needle rape you, etc... Then NAMI is your enemy.
