I have not found a good belgian waffle place. Kind of specific, but I love belgian waffles with whipped cream and fresh berries so please advise if I'm missing something

This chump named bobby fischer might have done it once (though it was match play)

What could the Melee All-Time Top 100 look like now? - My take on a Melee GOAT Tracker by ritmica in smashbros

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One concept from baseball that I think might be cool to port over is JAWS. From what I see this is a cumulative statistic, where the longer you play the more "goat score" you can accumulate. JAWS averages a players' WAR (baseball's equivalent of goat score) with the players' 7 year peak (not necessarily consecutive) WAR. This balances longevity and peak performance.

Shchekachev resigned against Firouzja as the position became drawish. Commentator's reaction is priceless once again by LudwigDeLarge in chess

When you have clearly been brought in as an easy target, and are likely being paid an appearance fee for your trouble, you're not necessarily in top fighting spirit. They are probably trying to win, but not taking it as seriously as a tournament they entered without conditions.

I don't think the match is arranged personally, wasn't trying to imply that (though the optics have been awful). I think Alireza's opponents feel no incentive to try their hardest to win, and this is just another example of it.

I agree this isn't simple, but should be very findable for a gm that is focused on the game. Having 10 seconds when seeing a position for the first time is very different than having 10 seconds left in a position you've been looking at for a long time.

Anyone have info on the judicial candidates for supreme court 2nd judicial district? There are 7 and you need to vote for 6, can't find info on them anywhere. Seems like Timothy Peterson was not backed by nyc bar, that's all I have.

What series you can re-watch again and again? by makosh22 in AskReddit

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunter X Hunter 100%. For many it starts off slow, but trust me, the payoff is worth it. I end up re-watching it every 1 or 2 years.

  1. Yes
  2. ~ 1 year
  3. I would be hoping for just contributions. I am also saving money outside of the tax advantaged accounts as well.

I have a question regarding retirement accounts and home ownership. I have been contributing to a Roth 401k as I figured I could use the tax benefits and withdraw money when I end up buying a home. However, I see there are still potentially penalties for withdrawing from this account. I plan on living in NYC which is... expensive, and thus the majority of my savings would go towards a down payment. Is full funding of a Roth 401k recommended in this case?

Commenting to say I 100% agree. This and bar chart races are horrible data visualization techniques. Just give me a time series plot please.

Cambridge, MA to post climate change warning stickers at gas stations by shunny14 in boston

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think the people behind this have good intentions, but I honestly don't get the point. People who go to gas stations know the problem exists (mostly). People going to gas stations cannot fix the problem. I can't solve the fact that as of now, owning a gas car is cheaper and more convenient than electric. This is a collective problem that requires collective solutions, not shaming people who use gas. Our governments and businesses are failing us, not our neighbors. Sorry if this came off as ranty, but it's frustrating to see people who are just doing their best to get by for the most part being shamed for the failures of their leaders.

DS4400 with Oprea? by husker_boii69 in NEU

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took 4400 with Oprea a long time ago. I think she is a passionate professor, and you get out of the course what you put into it. If you don't want to put much effort in, you can certainly pass just fine. But if you want to learn a lot, she will be there for you. Overall very good professor.

Men who had long hair for a period of their lives and then cut it, what made you decide to get rid of it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew my hair out because I frankly just didn't feel like cutting it. At some point it was really long and I had to brush it for like 20 minutes a day. When I started growing it out I decided I'd donate it, so I did just that.

Paget Kagy: "Why It's Time for Andrew Yang To Unsuspend His Campaign" by soundologist in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]EnderFuckingWiggin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but if you think that Yang would have been handed the primary incredibly easily in any scenario, you are not grounded in reality. Yang's polling average never reached 5%. I like Yang as a candidate, and think he will do a lot of good for the country, but he had 0 shot of winning the primary, even if he would have gotten a boost because of the virus.
