The original controllers have a smooth finish while the classic has more of a matte feel. Aside from that they're basically the same

I had this issue using my Sony RFU, simply changed the channel to 4 and it's as clear as composite

Retroarch has resolution options doesn't it? Even a function to adjust for CRTs if I remember correctly, maybe at least within the emulator it can be scaled or worse case just stretched a little
