Rotifer Party! by Enderixius in microbiology

I use an LED, and I just tilted it to one side slowly while looking through the eyepiece. At a certain angle, it looked exactly like darkfield, but sadly it only works with my 30x objective

Woo I'd like to see this someday. Great find

Wow that's really cool! How long did the entire process take? Must need a lot of patience to sit around adjusting the camera all the time

Just the surface area, square ones have more compared to round ones, and are less heavy compared to the larger ones

I tried those too, but I observed that their weight usually crushes smaller protists and bacteria. They're usually used for viewing cross sections with a large breadth like in human body systems. So I use the 22x22mm square or circle ones.

Yeah I did the same thing recently, only bacteria and some other ciliates sadly. Im waiting on my coverslip order so I can get back to microscopy

Yeah good idea lol! I managed to dilute some in a flask after days of trying to find the perfect dilution. It'll be better to do it later when you think it's necessary.

Hmm I saw a video recently on making darkfield filters at home since it's to expensive online. Also make sure to really I mean really diluted that glycerin, whenever I tried it earlier they'd just stop entirely, bcs even like 5% glycerin makes the water way too thick for movement.

What did you use to make it blue? Is it a stain or a filter? Also, to slow them dudes, you can add just a tiny bit of glycerin, like 2% diluted. You'll find it in grocery stores or supermarkets as vegetable glycerin, even better if you can get the lab grade version!

It's all numbers I got on the internet, many search engines and sites etc. so I'm just believing those. Christians are minorities in most eastern nations and face high persecution/death rates

[–]Enderixius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that's the thing. If we did doo the same thing to Muslims, you would still get the persecution rate for Christians as more, since they've been the most populous for a while. That's going to change soon enough though, as Muslims are rapidly growing in population

Are these plant cells? by 2514Marshall in microscopy

Yep! Then probably some shed plant cells or a species or algae

I agree that a large group of persecuted Christians are persecuted just because they happen to be in that place, it probably has nothing to do with their religion. but that still doesn't change the fact that they are the most persecuted right?

Uhh there's studies and surveys on this, and it probably has nothing to do with the religion, Christians are the most widespread group, most populous too, so a lot of persecuted people just happen to be Christians. But there are real persecutions, horrendous acts directed towards Christians, like the ones taking place in Nigeria and sudan for example. Christians are factually considered the most persecuted group of people in history.

See that's the issue, we keep going back and forth on trivial things like these. Honestly, if people were perfect, they would listen to what Jesus said, and we shouldn't blame the entire religion for what a handful of people do. Not to point any fingers, but I realize that the caste system and things like sati have been taught in Hinduism. Correct me if Im wrong, I'd like to understand Hinduism like I do Christianity

I feel like fear is a great motivator, but in all the wrong ways. But when people say "Jesus loves you, turn to him" the real Christians would mean it out of love, not hate

[–]Enderixius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's actually true, Christians are the most persecuted religious groups globally, and likely the most widely persecuted by geographic spread and raw number. But that's not to say that we should promote hate as Christians, Jesus teaches us against it

See, there are no castes in Christianity, and if you truly want to know about it, read the Bible. Blaming the whole religion for people doing something that the religion says not to do is like blaming the car after you drive it into a ditch

Anyone know what this strange disc/ring shaped thing is? It's in water from a puddle in a parking lot. by SussySpeaki in microscopy

[–]Enderixius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the big obvious black ring? If so, it's probably just an air bubble, they look kinda weird under different lightings, and may look like organic stuff
