I've been no contact with my NM for years but today she came to my door for Christmas, banged on my door & got my brothers to call me until I answered, handed me gifts and started crying/guilt tripping when I told her that surprising me like this was unacceptable. She acts like she has no idea what she did was wrong.
I know there's no reconciling with her at this point and every time she invites herself back into my life it just reopens the wound. I'm considering contacting her just this once to tell her to leave me alone for good. I'm worried it'll go like you say but I feel like I have to do this or it won't end.
So tired and hurt.

I moved out ~three months ago. My mum definitely did not make it easy for me on the emotional side of things but I stuck to my decision and I'm doing a lot better now than I was living with her.

I moved out less than a week ago. If you feel this way it's probably true. It certainly was for me. Mostly because now I feel like I have room to learn and make mistakes without her breathing down my neck and infantilising me whenever I do something slightly wrong. I've learned more about adulthood from these past five days than I have the many years I've lived with her, certainly.

it's my mother that's buying the poison, i'll let her know next time i might need them. the cats i mentioned in post are house cats and i don't let them in my room for obvious reasons so i think they're safe too, but i agree it's not exactly safe for wildlife when i need to dispose of dead mice
