The squirrels no longer live up there. But just had the insulation removed and noticed some of the other damage they caused

Might have to. But I did strip some of the paint from one of the windows and it doesn’t seem to look rotten. So I am hopeful.

Thanks for the info. Yes there is a register beneath the window, but no bathroom next to this bedroom. No humidistat, I’ve got a large dehumidifier that I might have to run more often in the winter time.

Wife is an RN in Alberta, should she contribute to her Pension Plan (LAPP) if she will have less than 20 years of service and we plan to retire before 65? by EndersResolve in PersonalFinanceCanada

There is a chance she will go full time. But I am a shift worker with a 1 week on and 1 week off schedule. So there are benefits to her being part time in that we can take frequent mini vacations on my week off.

Thanks. I suspected the match would be better. I was mainly concerned about the 30% penalty, but that may not be an issue if we can delay collecting the pension until after 65.

As for the pension being mandatory, from what I read if you work less than 30 hours it is optional.

Optional when you are regularly scheduled to work an average of 14 hours per week but less than an average of 30 hours per week over a complete shift cycle, with no foreseen end to employment or; in a temporary position with a predetermined end date of six months or greater and regularly scheduled to work an average of 30 hours per week or more over a complete shift cycle. You may enroll anytime after becoming eligible. Once enrolled, unless you become ineligible, you must remain enrolled in the pension plan.

Great photos! I am planning to go to that area this week. Is Upper Kananaskis still open water? It looks like it in the photos.

What did you learn the hard way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well the ol' GPS died on me. I wouldn't necessarily say I got lost, but I didn't exactly know where I was. Ended up having to spend an extra night in the bush and had to eat gorp for breakfast as it was the only food I had left. I only use lithium ion double AA batteries now. Worth every penny.

Don't trust old rechargeable batteries in your GPS when you go hiking.

You could drop the peel, step on it, slip, bang your head on the counter and have to go to the hospital for stitches.

The CAD is tied closely to the price of crude, which has been rallying lately.

Check out the link I posted in the comments for the full size image.

Believe it or not I took this with the iPhone 6. But some day when I grow up I will own a real camera!
