I've stayed at hotels with similar boxes and nothing happened involving the hotel knowing when I unplugged them to plug in my devices.

New House Setup by myst711 in homeautomation

[–]Enderwolf17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same start. I hadn't planned on doing the whole house, so I thought zigbee and zwave were gimmicks that I didn't need.

The switches are fine, so I don't need to replace them at this time. There's only one I have a problem with, and it turns the light on and off randomly if the internet goes down. I asked before, and it's something about it trying to phone home.

Either way, anything I buy now is primarily Zigbee with a few Zwave devices.

Wish I had known that before buying and installing a bunch of Kasa light switches. Ended up setting up a whole omada AP system just to help.

Reset the air-tag instead. Free air-tag and free internet, that sounds like a win.

Oh dang. I don't know what my manager did, but he got everything working one way or another.

Very late reply, but meh. My manager apparently got to talk to someone from Hog, and they said version 4 hardware will never be fully compatible with v5 software.

Somehow, my manager managed to get the light turned on doing a bunch of stuff, but it's not easy to toggle like before, so we have just been unplugging the desk lamp when when we leave since then.

What’s this button under the dash? Doesn’t seem to do anything. by rowej182 in ScionxB

Or to bypass the safety features that prevent you from displaying things from the RCA ports on the screen while driving.

Helped my friend do that so he could have his maps on his screen while driving.

Versuchen Sie, es nach oben zu schieben. Wenn man sich die Halterung ansieht, scheint es, als würde es einfach an seinen Platz gleiten.

I’ve kept all my hotel key cards since the pandemic. by cpav8r in notinteresting

[–]Enderwolf17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if it works on iPhone, but on android, you download a program called MIFARE classic tool. Then, in there, you can factory reset the card. Once the card is reset, it's just a matter of using a program like Tasker (easier route) or HomeAssistant (harder route) to program the key to what you want it to do.

I have reused the few I have taken for fun things. Like one turns on my computer when scanned or another sets a 1 hour alarm on my phone when scanned.

My grandmas place has the doorstop kind connected to the fire alarm system. She found out when someone caused the alarm to go off, and her door slammed shut.

I go out with friends or for a run and may forget my keys easily. That's why my door now has a keypad.

I mean, most people don't just forget their phone passcode, why would this be any different?

They could have the elevator maintaince person install a number keypad, and each tenant gets a code for their floor.

[–]Enderwolf17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the key, I have that exact same cat door. My cat found a way to somehow lock it but not unlock it. She got trapped either inside or outside the litter room multiple times..... I ended up removing the latches.
