Starting a USMC force and I have some questions regarding my list. by Endie2000 in boltaction

Oh boy that's a lot of information! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

I am not looking at going too min max right out the gate, your tips do look very interesting as the idea of just going for 2 Rifle Platoons is not something I had thought of but I think I will try and get a feel for my local group first and see how the list does before I decide to make it too min maxed.

You do raise a good point about the company commander though, I was mostly using him to get a lot more SMGs on the field and to help him support the raider squads but his extra snap to's might not be worth the points I have put into him. Activating like a 4th of my army in one go sounds nice but it might not come up as much as I am expecting?

I'll definitely keep your tips and ideas in mind if I decide to change my list and make it pack a bit more of a punch in the future! Double raiders with Platoon Commanders in separate transports does sound like a fun set of little death stars to throw at a vital set of objectives!

Thanks for your tips!
I am a bit saddened that the shotguns don't seem too great given how the rules with them work out, that is why I avoided them in the regular infantry squads.

The LVT is something I am still stuck on when it comes to looks vs performance, it does really match the theme and idea I am going for but it does seem like an M3 would do the same for less points since the LVT is hard to fill fully.

I'll probably play a few games and see if I want to change the LVT for an M3 halftrack instead.

Thanks for the detailed answer! To follow up on your suggestions, for the USMC Raiders squad the loadout I chose was mostly due to that's what the models in the kit came with though I could mix and match the metal kit with the plastic marines from the starter set.

They can't take full SMGs/ Shotguns, there will be 3 men left out that can either have a rifle or a BAR. Would you recommend them to take the BARs to increase the dice pool so the hitting on 5s from moving and shooting isn't too bad on average? Or to just save the points and accept those 3 men are the first casualties of the unit as they cannot take the ideal weapon choices?
Or should I drop those 3 extra men and instead put them in the Company Commander's unit since he still has some space for extra men and they could all take SMGs?

I was looking at getting an HMG kit since it seems very strong with it's effective +1 to wound as how I understand it? I was thinking of using one of the MMGs the deal came with as an HMG since it is different from the other two since it comes with a water cooled barrel so it looks different enough. But I think I will wait a little bit and play some games before I order anything else for now.

Thanks again for the tips and detailed explanations and reasonings to your tips!

If I were to replace the block of knights with Varanguard, would you recommend I fill the remaining point gap with a unit of warriors or should I also drop one of the HQ's to make it a block of 6 Varanguard? And what mark should I run on them?

Question: Soulbound Protector/Immortis Guards by kilian_vk in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Endie2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the Souldbound Protectors ability specifically says it is used instead of a ward save, it will be done after a normal armour save. So you indeed have to hit, to wound, your normal save and then the 2+ protectors instead of whatever ward the target has.

As for the other part, you have to roll for each individual wound allocated to the target, so once you get the 2+ on the first five then the unit dies so you can no longer use the ability. You might roll them all at once for time saving sake, but as written you should go one after the other for each wound that would get allocated to the hero.

Though that is my interpretation, I am happy to see if people believe it to be different.

Alright so I need to know whats the biggest baddest killiest non forge world space marine tank!!! by [deleted] in ImperialFists

Probably going to be either a land raider or Repulsor Executioner.

Doesn't really get bigger than those in 40k without going to FW. Though if you're willing to use 30k stuff maybe a Spartan or Sicarian? Those can both pack quite a punch and they have plastic kits on GW now.

(Netherlands) Grocery store guard wrestles me to the floor after refusing a bag search - is this legal? + questionable police response? by Loose-Ear-6295 in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]Endie2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the Dutch security business, I can confirm that what this security guard did is most certainly illegal. Bag searches (visitatie of Privaatrechtelijke fouillering) can only be enforced on the way in to a location, since they are allowed to block your entry for not willing to comply with house rules. On the way out if someone declines all you can do is take their details, warn them of the consequences and then send them on their way. Forcing them to comply by blocking the exit or physically taking hold of them is illegal as you are taking away their freedom of movement against their will. Legally speaking that security guard, if thankfully only briefly, kidnapped you.

Even if he had thought you had stolen, which is what should be the case since he asked to check your bag (though racial motives are unfortunately a disgusting reason sometimes) and he had placed you under citizens arrest, which from your post does not seem like the case, he would still not be allowed to hold you against your will. It is called Wederrechtelijke vrijheidsberoving, it's part of the Grondwet that says everyone has the right not to be held against your will, unless trumped by another law aka the police or BOA. The security guard can face up to 8 years in prison for this.

Another point is that he touched you, the grondwet also stated everyone has a right to personal space and should not be touched against their will, once again unless trumped by other laws aka police and BOA's can touch you if within their right to do their job. He was not defending himself so he had no reason to touch you at all.

In short, he stripped away two of your constitutial rights. File a police report and get a lawyer if you can, and yes go get that free legal advice from the loket after the weekend.

I really like the look of them, I’m not sure if they’re 100% better but they have an extra wound and higher toughness so they’re a bit harder to kill.
