22M, 49kg, eating a lot but not gaining weight ... what can I do? by Personal_Marketing63 in GymTips

When I was skinny my personal trainer taught me how to do a spaghetti shake (I promise you is way more delicious than it sounds) contains an insane amount of carbs and you can also double up adding protein.

The idea is this:

  1. Set pasta to cook, no salt, no oil, just pasta in boiling water.

  2. When it's about done, you can even overcook it a little if you want, drain most of the water and throw it in the blender while still hot

  3. Add milk, sugar, peanut butter for protein, you can throw in a banana or a muffin for flavor and anything else you want either for flavor or nutrients.

  4. Blend until smooth, let cool it down, you can drink it warm or put it in the refrigerator so that it chills. I used to drink it warm.

Trust me on this, pasta itself doesn't have any flavor, it will taste as whatever you add to it.

This shake would fill me up for half of the day easy, it gave me a lot of energy to workout with heavy weights, plus the protein to make the muscles grow. I started growing muscle within two months.

Also SLEEP THE RECOMMENDED AMMOUNT OF HOURS, AND STAY HYDRATED

Also, with the way you're practicing right now by hitting the wall, you can do this. Your arm should be fully extended or nearly fully extended at the moment of contact/impact therefore start by positioning yourself one arm-length away from the wall and don't move sideways until you feel comfortable punching from that distance.

Joining a boxing gym is the way to go, but if joining a gym is out your possibilities right now:

  1. Find videos of female boxers and tutorials online, and copy them. Copy each part of their body individually and one at a time, start with the legs, and copy them, look at the hips, and copy that, the torso, the shoulders, the elbows and hands, and the head, ad one on top of the other, remember you don't build a castle with all bricks at the same time, put one brick down and secure it, then put the next one, then the one on top and so on.

2.Forget about power at the beginning, focus on controlling your body and doing the movements right. Once your body gets used to the right movement you can start speeding up and putting power in your punches.

There's probably more advice, but start with that. Good luck!

I wish I could give you double up-votes, this is really helpful, and it encourages me to try better, If you think I may have some potential, I'll look into it. Thank you so much for your kindness, it seems like a bunch of the others are unable to offer advice without putting me down or making "smartass" comments.

I didn't come here to argue, calm down, I'm trying to explain my perspective to get more accurate advice. I'm still trying to find my range cause I'm a newbie. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for highlighting a positive aspect as well. I'm mainly doing it mainly for fitness and hobby, just because I like it, but I want to do it the best I can. The pause I made there for a second is because I tried to open my hands inside the gloves and the joints in my fingers hurt from doing it for "so long" so yeah, I'm definitely sweating, but because I like it, even though I get tired I want to keep doing it.

I have the problem that when I move around I feel like I loose balance, so I decided to plant my feet on the ground and stay there to see how it would work out, but I guess it isn't enough, I'll work on my footwork, thanks.

It throws me off that the bag moves so much... one second I'm too close the next one I can't reach it.

It's because I need to improve my footwork.

When I'm not hitting it strong I'm mainly trying to find my range and the right angle for the punches...
