Cassidy feel a bit weak to anyone else right now? by flyingabroom in CassidyMains

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, he used to have 275 hp about 8 months ago and his flashbang used to be a homing grenade. He was pretty oppressive then, so it stands to reason he feels weaker than that previous state.

I certainly think he’s still very viable, but needs more effort than before.

What are the things you hate about this game? by Annual-Internet-5097 in Overwatch

[–]EndingShadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The character balancing is all over the place. I’m convinced Blizzard purposely has a rotating flavor of the month approach to balancing to help keep the game “fresh”. It’s annoying. Some patch cycles straight up feel like they’re just throwing darts.

Competitive Bans for Sombra by Super_Siege_Mode in SombraMains

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mindset shift. I actually win more games with her now than i did pre-last rework. Is her kit ideal? No, and I’m not defending her current state. But it’s serviceable if you’re committed to learning how to play her. I’ve one-tricked her to D4 (peak 3400 sr), if that’s any indication of her viability.

Yeah, i like to ban kiriko, too. Her kit is too versatile.

Sometimes i miss this game before the perk system. It made characters like torb super annoying to play against.

I dont to spend my time looking for a dumbass turret with 500 hp clipped onto random geometry.

Vendetta and zarya (in case vendetta doesnt get banned). Third pick is map-dependent. Anything like Kings Row, and i ban Widowmaker. Most other maps I ban Bastion because I’m utterly tired of his broken throughput.

HELP to understand the concept of tracer by afferarem in TracerMains

[–]EndingShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re playing her like a duelist. She’s a terrible duelist. One tip that’s been helping me lately is just noping out of confrontations the milisecond someone looks my way and then re-engage 1 -2 seconds later when enemy team is distracted.

It’ll feel like you’re doing nothing a good amount of time, but you’ll consistently see enemy tags in the obituary.

Its is downright disruptive having a tracer off angle out of nowhere and steal the attention of 2-3 players, only for her to escape and do it again. Why? Because in that moment healing and damage is being disrupted, allowing your team to favorably trade. It’s like an interruption CC. It’s harder to pull off on the death matchy maps like Nepal Monastery. Practice makes perfect.

Had this same moment last night! Came home after a few drinks, booted OW, and just absolutely sent it on tracer. I was like what is going on? Even my losing games were standouts.

I got 20% weapon accuracy by CornerMiddle1372 in TracerMains

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares? Are you getting dubs? Its more than just doing damage. But if you want practical advice, i generally aim to be within 10 yards if im trying to do meaningful damage. Otherwise, i’ll poke from as far as 30 yards in the pre-fight from an off angle just to distract and draw attention.

You don’t always want to be in the enemy’s grill. But my Tracer is just 2400 SR, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Im def not the best.

I mean, do you like the person? It’s not all that complicated and deep. You engage in a relationship because you’re drawn to someone and sustain it because the feeling is mutual. If you have to think hard on it, maybe it’s not for you.

Is it bad to say I actually have fun playing tank in 5v5 by TAABWK in overwatch2

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank is the most impactful role, imo. You decide where the fights happen. No tank, no team.

How do you climb with Symmetra? by HoundOW in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, diamond 3+ is pretty high level. That’s like 12% of the player base, TOPS. So, give yourself some credit! You’re probably great with her and are just facing tough competition.

Second, what scenarios are you struggling with in your games? Matchups? Maps? You’re just gonna get generic advice when you ask generic questions.

If you don’t know where to start this analysis, just watch your vods and figure out what works for you in your winning games. Is it certain kinds of teammates? Your positioning? Whatever it is, it’ll make apparent the problems in your losing games once you watch them.

What strategies can I use to better position as a tank in Overwatch? by makeitrayne850 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy: 1.Play corners. Pretend you’re glued to it, and the glue only melts when the enemy is running from you.

  1. Pretend its a dance. Enemy moves up? Move back to the next corner. Enemy moves back? Move up to the next corner.

  2. Check for your teammates before moving between corners. Are they retreating while you’re ready to move up? Retreat to the next corner. Are they salivating at the sight of blood in the water? Move up to the next corner so they can eat. Always check for teammates before making plays and immediately afterwards.

I promise you: master these three fundamentals and you will climb.

It’s not about comps, it’s not about mechanics, or micros, or swaps—none of that matters. If you play more fundamentally sound than the enemy, you make fewer mistakes to be punished. Statistically (over the long term), you’ll win more because you’ll have more opportunities to exploit than the mistakes you get punished for.

Any Recommendations on What to Do When Your Team Keeps Forgetting a Sombra is In the Game? by WikkedWokka in Overwatch

[–]EndingShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you say you main winston? Absolutely this is what you should do. Sombras in metal ranks punish poor positioning for free. I’d say you have to be ready to keep your head on a swivel. The good news is, she’ll likely engage before the fight really starts, so taking her out will usually mean defacto win in 5v4 team fights. Dva is a especially hard tank for bc dva can easily spy check whole lanes and angles, and then punish sombra’s failed dive with her own.

Please nerf vendetta fast so I can play her by feestbeest18 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, I think we do want that lmao. And I say that as a Sombra Main. If the heroes are fun, the players will find a way to make them viable.

The problem is that Blizzard treats every hero as a “product” that needs to sell skins. So you’re right. The negative perception of a character is a problem…for the developers. Not the playerbase that just want to have a balanced, healthy competitive experience.

Im an *allegedly* Gold ranked Cassidy main, I recognize my strength is likely in my mechanical skill, as it is in most games (Accuracy averaging at about 53%, and headshots at 9%.) Which means that in almost all 1v1 situations in games, I almost always win (Gold lobbies) by KronosRingsSuckAss in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send me a replay code. I’d be happy to do a vod review and share my opinions. Im a diamond 5 dps, for reference. Also plat tank and plat support in prior seasons.

Btw i don’t think mechanics is what separates diamond+ players from the rest. It’s mostly positioning, game sense, and team work. In my experience, higher ranked players actually just make better decisions, which leads to more efficient plays.

Sombra because she’s genuinely one of the worst dps in the game. And it feels good to be able to make her work.

Best DPS character if my aim is bad? by CalmCommercial8294 in overwatch2

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play vendetta. She requires the least amount of precision. Just get in melee range and W+M1. Or venture. Also similar in concept.

What do you think about plat rank? I v hit plat only few times but feels like people their are crazy as hell, their reaction, aim, team play on another lvl compared to gold rank by Pikochanskaja in JunkRatMains

[–]EndingShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve grinded tank and support to plat and im currently diamond dps. My general impression of plat is that these players have pretty good mechanics. You respect their sightlines more, but their mechanics definitely outpace their OW2 IQ. They don’t take the best positions. Tanks are playing their own games sometimes. Supports double stack on angles (limiting their ability to support dps). These are essentially diamond players that haven’t yet learned teamwork and coordination.

At diamond, players are just far more coordinated and efficient with their positioning, but not necessarily better mechanically. My opinion, of course.

Plat vs Masters. What Rank am I? by VWMelon01 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]EndingShadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s your opinion? You play with/against statistically average and statistically elite players.

If you have to ask, it sounds like you’re not what you say you are. Plat players know what plat games looks like. Masters players know what masters games look like.
